The only real solution is to have a 32-team National Playoff. Or at least 16-team. Because conference play will have differing & unfair schedules. Make it like basketball, where it makes absolutely no difference as long as you're in the top few teams.
Quit comparing the 2 sports you clown..

But I would also think that in Nebraska circumstance they would play Ioway, Wisconsin and Minnesota every year and the other 6 or 7 games would switch off with the other members in the conference..
So your solution is to have teams play their top 3 rivals every year...and then play 6 or 7 random alternating games. And then crown a conference champion based in this. And then what? Your idea seems dumber than mine so far...

Were talking about 2 different subjects… You’re talking a playoff that would last 16 weeks with 32 teams and I’m discussing how the conference would schedule 9 or 10 games in conference play with out divisions and have a conference championship game between the 2 best teams…

Get this nonsense you conjured up of having 32 teams in a football playoff.. Football needs much more prep time between games compared to basketball playing a game..

Read again what the conference is discussing..

You can't consider the conference format without considering the postseason.

For instance...if only 1 Big Ten team is in the National Championship Playoff, you better make sure that the conference schedules are fair for everyone.

This thread has nothing to do with the National Championship playoffs that is another subject conference’s will decide at a later date..

Well hopefully things align properly in the end. Because it would be totally idiotic to have grossly unbalanced conference schedules if only the Big Ten Champion qualifies for the National Playoff.

that's exactly what happens now (east teams play an infinitely harder schedule than west teams) & I'd say the b1g is lucky because at least 2 b1g champs have gotten into the playoff that had no business being there

Again that’s not going to happen…There will be more than 4 teams, a year ago they were considering at least 12 team playoff.. But you’re Lunatic if you think there will be 32 teams..

I can't believe I have to keep explaining this. Yes, with 2 divisions, one division might be better than the other. But you don't have teams jumping over better teams due to grossly unfair schedules....like you would with 20 teams, 10 games, and no divisions.

Ok, that's all I asked. I said that the postseason needs to be considered. And yeah, a 12-team playoff is the absolute minimum. But I see problems with anything less than 16.

While we can't predict the outcome with certainty, it's fun to explore different possibilities. By the way, have you ever tried using the Tarot Yes No feature? It's a neat tool for quick answers and insights. Remember, whatever the future holds, embracing it with an open mind and positive attitude can lead to exciting opportunities.

Making Notre Dame think things over.. If the BIG goes to 10 conference games there won’t be any room for the Irish to play B1G teams..
Notre Dame doesn't have to think things over. They ARE the Legendary CF program of all time and absolutely doesn't need a conference to make money and survive. They are - by far - the biggest national brand out there. Rockne, the Gipper, the Four Horsemen.........Enough said

Ahhhh yes, the 4 Horsemen, the same 4 Horsemen that had a losing record to Nebraska (1922-1924). Not to mention the loyal Notre Dame fandom who sold so many of their tickets to Husker fans that Touchdown Jesus was blessing a Sea of Red.

I agree with you about the ND arrogance but we also need to throw Michigan in there with them. When both schools aren't winning-excelling in a sport, they love to throw the "excellent education" BS in your face. Michigan is self-proclaimed the "Harvard of the Midwest" ---- if you don't believe it, just ask them

No doubt about Michigan. I live close to Ann Arbor and yes, those Michigan fans are arrogant for sure. They're relatively harmless compared to the fans of old foes Colorado and Missouri but very arrogant about them being elite and above everyone else.

Michigan fans are country clubbers who live for member-member (ohiost) weekend

They don’t care about anything else & also will gladly say so

They are so annoying and wrong.

NW is the only school in the Big Ten that has an academic reputation that actually travels.

Then, for things like Computer Science and Engineering, Purdue and Illinois are huge names.

What are the average earnings for a Big Ten game?

It would have to be around 12 million a game net, (6 million for each team) to average out to 70+ million a year.

I hear what you’re saying, and your point is valid… But man, would’ve killed you to use some names that played in our lifetimes? Come on… Talk about ancient history. People say Nebraska lives in the past…
