Minnesota is hard to figure. They have what looked like a couple of nice wins against Washington and Texas A&M; but they were far from impressive at BC. NU gets them on the road next week.

You’re so sadly miss informed..
They lost 6 to Gonzaga and is ranked #1 and 9 to Xavier and a bucket at ND..

We can’t take them likely when we went to Champaign last season..
I am an Illini fan, I have watched all their games.

The Zags game was great for them, no doubt. It took a 27 point effort from TF in the second half to make that game so close, it was an amazing effort but 27 point halfs by one player are few and far between.

They send the opposing team to the line about 30 times a game. Opposing teams tend to shoot in the 55% range vs the Illini.

Xavier is not average team and took it to the Illini. They got destroyed by an ISU team that was missing 3 starters...They beat a Miss Valley State team by 19...a team that usually loses by 40+.

NU simply can't drop 1 of the 2 to the Illini if they want to make the dance. The Illini will end up with less than 12 wins this year.

Given the basketball talent in Illinois, the Illini should be a perennial top 25 program. Their overall recruiting has not been effective since Bill Self left. They'd have been better off staying with Weber, who wasn't a terrific recruiter, but at least is a good Xs and Os coach.

Maryland must get major style points for playing Virginia close, because they have beaten absolutely nobody.

Of course that was the case last year too, but the Turgeon droolers still kept trying to talk them into the tournament.

The talent in the state, maybe a bit overrated at times but still it is there. The problem is recruiting Chicago is more difficult than convincing someone that they are wrong about something on a message board. The cesspool that you have to wade through is difficult at best and the connections to certain "runners" seem to run very deep.

Also, it doesn't help that the Illini campus is a solid 2.5 hours from Chicago and there is little allegiance to the school

He gets a ton of love...dude can recruit...that much I will give him. But that seems to be about it.

He also definitely knows how to schedule. Terps play at Purdue Dec. 6, and that is their one and only game outside the state of Maryland until Jan. 5 at Rutgers.

Not a basketball fan in the least but it still feels really good seeing Nebraska up that high for once!

I grew up in the Chicago area and am aware of the foibles of recruiting there. The distance shouldn't be a factor when I'm seeing Chicago and Illinois players dot the rosters of Duke, Villanova and Kansas, among others, in recent years. You can generally get enough players for a good team within the state without even going into Chicago. They've had a very solid program until the past few years. They need a guy who is willing to put in the work.

Nice win for Nebraska. B1G probably should have won the challenge this year. MSU and Purdue gagged down the stretch.

Sure, but Duke and KU are blue bloods...Chicago kids have no loyalty to the state school and what I meant was...the distance is a factor in that regard. I grew up out there too and honestly, never once while in high school did I think "Hey, lets drive 2.5 hours to check out the campus"...you know?
