Not sure whose going to guard Tim Duncan is what a diehard asked me last night.....I told him I was more worried about Randolph Childresss going for 30 on us.
This pre-conference schedule should eliminate any late December pre-January thought of "when does conference play start"....more importantly, I also think this schedule gives the roster a faster learning curve OR more of a chance to see what we have, while improving at the same time. You could not say that in years past. I know people may not buy into this, but I really believe that in past years, RU basketball and football (and the players and coaches) also look at the schedule the same way some fans do....and this schedule and Vegas eliminates that fear factor.
I also think it brings a greater focus to the offseason and everything that we saw in the football season. The depth got exposed tested and more importantly, RU finished with a kick at the end of the season winning at Maryland and beating UNC.
For hoops, I think each game brings something to that table with this set up....And I think RU's best basketball last year was Vandy & UVA at Barclay and at Clemson with 3 games in 4 nights....This schedule will force kids to be ready in September and first practice in mid October, so there isn't any reason to watch the freshmen and newcomers perform.
