All they need now is to of caught Ayton paying officials to rig games and then they have all the cheating covered. ...

He tested positive for a diuretic???? Lol I hope it was more than that. Diuretics are in caffeinated beverages and also in alcohol. Good luck avoiding those in your late teens/20s.

They must have some limit you can’t exceed. They must have a good reason for this rule but it’s hard for me to see one. Diuretics only dehydrate you (a competitive disadvantage) by essentially tricking your body into thinking your hydrated when you’re not. This causes your body to so urinate any “extra” water out instead of reabsorbing it through the kidneys, creating the illusion of clean urine (clear).

Can someone help me out here? What am I missing?

Like some other naturally occurring substances, caffeine and alcohol themselves have side effects that can temporarily increase urination. But those beverages do not have diuretic drugs added to them.

Prohibited diuretic drugs are banned because athletes have used them to hide other prohibited drugs and beat the screening tests.

It isn't very hard now to understand why John Calipari backed off Ayton, and why Sean Miller went after him. UK isn't for everyone, most especially not for self serving cheaters.

I think it is because they are used to fool drug tests. So basically, in order to trust the results of the test they don't allow things that could cause false negative. Just my guess.

It’s a coverup to mask PEDs

My Duke friend drafted almost all Duke players in his fantasy, but a few others like Ayton.

So far he's lost Ayton to suspension, Bagley with a broken thumb, and Zion with a torn meniscus.

Good. Serves him right.

Ayton's name has really been getting sullied. We now know he was totally on the take in college plus a drug suspension in the pros.

I watched the movie The Program in theaters back in 1993, so I'm a bit of an expert here. Diuretics can be used to flush metabolites left behind after a steroid cycle, or hardcore bender for that matter.

Yep. When an athlete tests positive for diuretics that's usually a pretty good sign that he's also done steroids.

A good lesson in the power of choosing mentors.

I don't know Ayton's home life, but I imagine at some point the wrong influence entered into the picture. Imagine if he had something similar to Towns' circle of influence and the trajectory that might have allowed for him.

Go to UK without being on the take.

Help that 2018 team get past Kansas State and get to a Final Four, where they possibly win it all.

Get to the league where your UK-accelerated work ethic continues to flourish and you transform from an 18/11 guy into a 22/13 guy over the course of a few seasons.

He should have got at least a 25 game suspension while he was playing for Arizona. Considering the fact that Arizona paid for his services.

Ok, makes sense. Glad UK backed off, he didn’t seem very interested in college ball tbh.

Trier got busted for PEDs while at Arizona as well.
Ayton has already cashed in. Who cares if he gets suspended now? He is crying all the way to the bank. I want to see Arizona placed on NCAA probation with major sanctions and Sean Miller suspended or banned. They got Pitino. They are investigating Self. Time to nail Miller.

You use them to dilute a urine sample to fool a drug test.
