I love Ayton's game, but if I had to choose either him or Mo Bamba, I'm taking Bamba but I'd be happy with either and very happy with both. I think we will get 1 or the other though.

No leap to say he's more athletic than Towns. Towns has made giant strides in terms of athleticism, but that wasn't, and never will be, his strong suit. Towns combines great size and solid athleticism with an incredible skill-set. In terms of pure basketball skill, Ayton has some, but is still way, way behind Towns.

Ayton has the physical ability to dominate just about everyone on the HS level (and almost certainly most on the college level). The only question with him is to what extent that will translate as he moves on to higher levels.

This kid and Bamba can co-exist easy they are not the same type player. Ayton can play stretch 4easy Bamba skill set wise right now is a five. Ayton int bothered by another big being on the roster he is still considering Kanas with Azubuike there as a soph. Azubuike is a beast and has to come back for year two with Kanas cause he will be to young for this year's draft. So i say get em both.

If I had to choose one of Bamba or Ayton I would take Ayton in a heartbeat. I just believe he gives more all around game. Having said that I expect us to get both if Ayton is eligible.

If UK keeps sniffing deep into the summer and early fall, it's probably because they feel good about his eligibility.

If Ayton continues to bust his *** academically, I see little more than a slap on the wrist and a few missed games. He becomes worth it in that scenario. Put him at the 4 and play him beside Richards at the 5. Petty at the 3, Diallo at the 2, and Young at the 1. Bring back SKJ, Tai, Humphries, and add one more high-level guard/wing, and a few role players, and I think UK would have another contender.

Something like this would look nice:

C - Richards/ SJK/ Humphries
F - Ayton/ SKJ/ Wynyard
G/F - Petty/ Wilkes
G - Diallo/
G - Young/ Waters

The latest Crystal Ball predictions have 86% predicting Bamba to pick Duke and 14% predicting Bama to enroll at Kentucky.

What other schools are recruiting this guy? Is Harvard still in the mix?

Bamba is more a true 5. His offensive game doesn't extend much past 10 feet or so right now. Ayton will likely end up playing the Tim Duncan/LeMarcus Aldridge 4/5 in the NBA where he's stepping away from the basket and creating, shooting. Dude's really good and his skill set is gonna translate well.
Bamba is more of a true 5, but I still don't see Ayton ever playing more 4 than 5. Yeah, you might end up being able to call him a power forward (since that's what he seems to want), but it will be a waste if he isn't the main guy in the lane. He'll be a PF in the same way Duncan was, or Karl Towns is- meaning he plays center over 50% of the time he's on the floor.

He needs to learn what Cal taught AD and Towns- dunks are ALWAYS better than jumpshots. Period. Call yourself a 4 or a 5, whatever, but the best way for you to play is to use your (awesome) physical ability to dominate within 5 feet of the rim. If you can add more, great, but that should be the foundation.

I think it is going to come down to a situation with Ayton and Bamba's talent level 1a and 1b. No matter which player you get you are getting a talented elite player for your frontcourt. Ayton will probably turn out the better post scorer and score more points per game and Bamba will be the elite defender and controls the post on defense. Not to say Ayton is just a scorer and lacks d and Bamba can't score and is elite on D. Both guys can get better at both parts of the game and can be elite at both offense and defense. I can't say i have a favorite out of the two. I would be happy if either recruit decided to play at Kentucky. I do believe we will land one of the two. When it comes to the elite of the elite, if you notice in the past, Cal usually lands one of those types in each class. I'm not too worried.
