how do we stand w/ him?

I believe has has Rutgers as one of his top choices. The staff has been in contact with them. Winning a couple of games would help solidify his trust in the direction the program is going.

All the schools mentioned the need for a shooter.I think Rutgers should be on the top of that list based on obvious need.

Wow....this would be a must take in class of 2018

It would make for a complex situation if it was for 2018. Something tells me this kid will end up classifying to 2019. Every kid wants more opportunity to improve. One year sitting in college, etc.

Him and Harper Jr. have similar games as well. It wouldn't make sense. I think most would agree Harper Jr is a wing, small forward. Him being seen as a guard would have the team with 5 or so guards next year.

He was 2018, then reclassified to 2019. He might go back to 2018, per the article.

Given that Rutgers has offered Diego Willis (2018) and the quote from Hyatt in the article says Rutgers would take him either year, it won't be an issue. The staff is clearly expecting at least one more spot to open up. Frankly without naming names I'd be disappointed if it was ONLY one more spot that opened, and I would not terribly sad even if three did, provided it's not major pieces leaving the team.

Very true. Great point. I overlooked players leaving, which happens everywhere. I expect at least one.

Bullock/Doorson are my guesses for gone opening up additional spots.

Corey needs one year unless he wants to test Europe/G-league. I dont see Europe as the plan as he has ties to FL and his daughter. Hoping hes back for another year.

One more strike and he might not be welcomed back.

@Greene Rice FIG dont think thatll be the case by any circumstance. Pike doesnt strike me as that type of guy and Coreys mishaps have been annoying/childish but not grounds for being barred from returning.

It wouldn't shock me if a player from our current rotation transfers if we have 3 incoming players at his position.

For sure. Still, you see so many teams run three guards these days, etc.

So far, for 2018, the roster looks even. Guard heavy for sure, but room for other players. Coaches normally don't run three guards the whole game. 2018.
1 Baker, Insert, Mensah, Downes
2 Sanders, Mathis, Kiss
3 Thiam, Harper Jr
4 Omoyuri, Carter, Nathan
5 Doucoure, Johnson,

Pretty even for the most part. I would be surprised if Bullock was here. Even Doorson.

how do we stand w/ him?
Rutgers is in good shape with him but the field is crowded and could become moreso. If he wants in, RU should take him in a heartbeat and figure out the numbers later.

Last I checked Hyatt is averaging 18.3 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.2 steals per game. He's shooting 30 percent beyond the arc, which is down a bit from last season's 37 percent but the competition is probably tougher at the Miller School. He shot 33 percent beyond the arc on the EYBL

Looking at trends, this would not happen. Pikiell has done a lot to keep Sanders here. He knows he has a ton of potential, and that is what he is working on.

Pikiell overlooked a lot of Sanders flaws and sent Johnson packing when him and Sanders had the same flaws. Sanders had a long leash, Johnson had a short leash. Pikiell has treated Sanders well on the banks, and has even been partial to him over other players at times.

I think he will be here.

His willingness to deal with that stuff could also be contingent on how confident he is with Mathis making a significant impact on day 1. I have to assume (could be wrong on my part) given the fact he was willing to waste a year on Kiss he will be ready from Day 1.

Agreed, but will Sanders want to be here?

A lot of different options besides the NBA to play professional basketball nowadays.

Thanks you guys.
Personally I think we’ll have two more spots for 17. I think we’re looking at a freshman and a grad transfer would be huge!
PS can someone make sure the LSU bag man doesn’t pay this guy a visit. I cringe every time I see LSU. Not because I think they’re bad. But they’re always in the mix for top talent

IMO this would be a huge get especially if we land him for 2018. We need a shooter like him and he could be missing piece to a very talented corps of players that Pikiell has assembled here.

The 30% from 3 stat that Russ references has me feeling a little nervous but I'd still take him in a heartbeat.

Stats are meaningless from 3 point range, rarely are shots taken in a specific context of an offense, sometimes they are in transition or during a comeback attempt etc.

Hyatt is a multi-dimensional player that fits into the starting lineup or immediate rotation from Day 1, similar to Mathis....

There are, but I don't think Sanders is ready for that. He needs guidance. He will not get an NBA look, or d league. He also is a father and probably would look to stay in the states.

That is true. That is the probably part of the reason Pikiell went after Kiss. These are all good problems to have. If Sanders does decide to leave, the sky at Rutgers will not fall.

Have I Told you lately how much I want Aundre Hyatt :)

There are three kids I really want from the class of 2019

Mulchay
Dixon
Hyatt

If he is 2018...he is a must take ...you find room for four star top 50-75. Prettt provisions where it comes from.

Mathis/Hyatt/harper/kiss COMPLETELY fixes the 2 and 3 spots for this program for years to come

Mulchay and Dixon at the 1 and 4 really would then fit needs for class of 2019
