I’d defer to Cochise Cowbell here since he’s the local expert but I think Farmhaus Burger is good.

Edit to add: I’ve also heard good things about Frog Hollow but I’ve not been there.

Farmhaus is good as well if you’re looking for more casual or a good burger. It’s owned by the same folks that own Frog Hollow.

Oh? That’s nice to know about the Frog Hollow/Farmhaus connection.

And I forgot you live in the area too.

If you like tapas, Sole is decent. The other recommendations for Farmhaus and Frog Hollow are good as well.

Casual and local

Can’t get more casual than Rhineharts, if you go to Frog Hollow got to get the Mac-n-cheese. Had good meals at the Whiskey Bar downtown and French Market Grille. If you like tapas and in Columbia County, Cork and Flame.

Farmhaus was one of the best casual meals I’ve ever had. Frog Hollow is the more fine dining of these two cousins, and phenomenal as well.

Spent a month there on business last year, and a few one off business trips since. I’ll say for lunch, grab some wings at Wild Wing Cafe. That’s a chain throughout GA and the best wings I’ve ever had. I’d do anything for a franchise to open up here in Bham.

That smoked gouda mac n cheese at Frog Hollow is insanely good.

I'm not the only poster from the CSRA and far from an expert, but I'll give it a shot. Most of the best have already been mentioned:

Farmhaus is good. I haven't tried Frog Hollow, yet.

Tbonz' Tommy Fries are worth the trip.

French Market Grille is fantastic. Their peanut butter pie is to die for. The original one off of Berkman in Surrey Center not the one in Columbia County.

Rinehart's is a must. Their slogan is "Beyond Casual." Bring your sharpie and write on every surface imaginable (You'll probably find some of my work along the lines of "Hail State" or "MSU: The REAL Bulldogs"). Everything there is good. They have one of the best hamburgers in town, however I've only had it once due to their seafood being so good. Again, like French Market, go to the original one on Washington Road and not the one off of Belair Road.

Two other places that I haven't seen mentioned:

T's Seafood off of Hwy 56. Their food is good but not great. However, they have the best hand-made hush puppies. They may look like something Bully left in the back yard, but they taste amazing.

Sportcenter Bar on Broad way downtown by the strip clubs has a great burger and great onion rings. This place is definitely local. They have huge frosted glass goblets of beer. They used to only have two choices Red (Budweiser) or Blue (Bud Light). They do have all of about 4 taps now, though. I think Killians is an option, which is odd. Caveat, this place is smokey as hell. They were either grandfathered in or just didn't give a **** about the local smoking ordinances before. However, as of January 1st a new State Law went into effect. I haven't been since, so I'm not sure about now.

I hope this helps y'all making the trip. Also, you won't see me out and about anywhere. I usually either leave town or avoid Washington Road like the plague.

ETA: There's only one place I go, if I go out that week at all, but I'm going to keep it to myself... for now.

Want a great meal you can feel good about? Go to Edgar's Grille. See the "about" section from their website below. Students run the restaurant. Service is great and so is the food.
Ate there when I went to the Masters a couple of years ago

[h=1]You'll Love Our Food,
And What It Accomplishes.[/h]At Edgar's Grille, we offer New American cuisine with a Southern flair. Elegant dining in a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Outdoor dining is available year-round in our spacious courtyard.
We feature locally sourced ingredients and are certified by Augusta Locally Grown.
[h=4]We Not Only Serve Delicious Food,
We Serve The Community.[/h]Edgar’s Grille is unlike any other restaurant in the Augusta area because a portion of every dollar you spend goes toward education programs, including support for Helms College. In addition, Helms College culinary students receive experiential learning opportunities through service at Edgar's Grille.
Named for Edgar Helms, founder of Goodwill Industries, Edgar’s offers discriminating diners here in Augusta a true “win-win” situation. You get to enjoy creative cuisine and delectable desserts and also enjoy that warm feelinginside that comes from helping others.

Ended up at Nacho Mama's last night. Had The Godfather with a couple of Sierra Nevada PA's and watched us beat the Red Raiders on my phone then had a night cap next door at Stillwater. Although 80% of it was empty or boarded up, downtown Augusta seemed huge for a town that size. I imagine being next to the river it was a bustling area 60-70 years ago.

Rolled into the Statesboro Hampton Inn this evening and see our men's golf team van parked out front. They're down playing in The Chris Schenkel this week.

sorry about that, I tend to not steer people toward downtown at all. they haven't completely gotten their act together down there, so it's a real mixed bag. glad it worked out though.
