Well said!

But, you can’t get around shi_. You just can’t! It’s just too stupid, and it’s Hobbs fault. He must go!! Go!! I’m sure he is a nice guy, but it doesn’t matter. Provident is okay, but why did we lose our national sponsor? Hobbs can’t hire our next coach.

You do realize that Rutgers has representation which handles these types of deals. Its not like Hobbs is on the phone cold calling companies he thinks might be interested in naming rights deals. There are professionals in this field that generate these deals

Right... not anything like that 150k Beetle that you're boppin' around in. [roll]
It really did, originally, look very much like the Beetle, right? Anyway, it could be worse. We coulda bought Bugatti’s. Those are seriously overpriced VWs. LOL

IIRC, the SHI deal was 1.6/yr so it’s more than double Highpoint’s sponsorship.

So what, put it in perspective.
New Mexico State gets about the same and University of Houston gets much more.
Not a killer deal for a P5 program.

Why I’m wasting my time I don’t know, but here goes...University of Houston signed a deal with TDECU, a local credit union. It’s a 10-year 15 year deal. That’s less than our deal for a much better FB team and program. NM State Aggies play at Memorial Stadium so I’m sure that’s not what you’re referring to. The UNM Lobos signed a deal with Dreamstyle Remodeling for 10 years at $10MM ($1MM/year). But that’s for both the Stadium and BB Arena.

I get it, Hobbs just doesn’t know a thing about FB and screwed up royally with his first hire. But he did fine securing naming rights to the Stadium.

Those are non-P5 Programs. Our new Deal should be nowhere in the same ballpark financially . Stop with throwing rose pedals at Hobbs.

I’ll admit I never heard of SHI before the naming deal with Rutgers.

But after reading up on the company and the CEO (female founder of the biggest private business, worth a cool $2 Billion) and hearing they’re such a big player with hiring Rutgers alums (350 alums)...along with the financial terms, this appears to be a great deal.

The company is proud of the deal. Already within a couple weeks they’ve hosted Sarah B. at their state of the union address with the CEO and also had a Rutgers day at the stadium with all employees who were Rutgers alums which the CEO also attended. O and their Twitter feed is filled with Rutgers related tweets over the past few weeks.

Yes P5 status matters, however so does stadium usage ... if those non P5 schools have the only stadium for miles and are hosting concerts on a regular basis that's also a factor in getting the sponsors name out and should increase the value of the deal ... think of how much radio exposure the stadium and a sponsor would have in the biggest media market if the stadium hosted concerts during thesummer session

I get the usage factor. Still think having a CFB Stadium in the NJ/NY market ; largest population area in the USA by far; would be worth significantly more for Naming Rights than New Mexico State in Las Cruces, NM or Colorado State Univ. in Fort Collins, CO { getting $2.5 million per year for a 36,500 seat stadium}.

Why would you think that?

In this market you have multiple professional sports venues (Yankees, Mets, Giants/Jets, Nets, Knicks/Rangers, Devils) plus a whole lot of other venues that can potentially sell naming rights. Naming for Rutgers Stadium can just get lost in the noise.

And if you are a company looking to market a local connection, you have a lot of options. If the bidding price for one venue gets too expensive, you can just turn somewhere else instead.

As usual the comment by @Upstream is one of the sanest of the bunch.

And after doing the same similar research @S_Janowski did, I have to agree, pretty good deal for more than a few reasons.

I want our AD to be a “professional” not a law school dean with poor judgment.

Get the competitive environment . There are more Fortune 1000 companies in this area than any other market. Trying to rationalize why our Naming Rights value should not be significantly higher than Fort Collins, CO (CSU}, New Mexico State, or even Minneapolis { U of M } is mind boggling. Not to mention we are in the premier CFB conference in the Country not the Mountain West Conference .

Point taken and good example with Colorado State. But please stop using the fake example with New Mexico State. NMSU does not make more than us for the stadium. They make $0. UNM in Albuquerque makes $1MM/year for naming of both the stadium and arena. That's like saying SHI got naming rights for Rutgers Stadium and the RAC. We get $1.6MM for just the stadium. Big difference. And heck, Minneapolis got a 35MM 25-year deal. That's 1.4MM per year. They recently re-negotiated, but are adding in naming rights for the entire athletics village. Again, not apples to apples.

I thought our naming rights deal was comparable to Minnesota.

LOL! But just in case you're serious: Take a look at the Fortune 1000 list a tell me how many of those companies have purchased stadium naming rights. Now eliminate telecommunications and financial/insurance companies (where naming rights are part of a marketing strategy to show a connection to a local area in which they are competing), and tell me how many are left.

You are missing the Point!
The fact that New Mexico State is even remotely close to a B1G Program for Naming Rights is ridiculous .

Fact is we are B1G and this Deal should be better. I will check but I think Minnesota has a better deal.

We should go after M&M Mars.. Mars Stadium has a ring to it. Do whatever it takes to woo them. Campbells Soup... what about some companies that moved to Jersey City from NYC? Verisk is Fortune 1000.. worth billions.. never heard of them? They are an actuary type firm.. math and Rutgers goes hand in hand.. lots of horrible stats and risk to analyze in Rutgers games.
