I really would have love Auburn to lose by my hate for OLe MIss is more than my hate of Auburn.
Happy to see this. Sounds pathetic on my part to be concerned with a third rate school like them, but it would have sucked to see ole Miss host super vs Milwaukee. At least now they will have a similar path to us.
I am big fan of Butch Thompson. I would be very happy if Auburn sucked at every sport other than baseball.
I like Butch too. He’s definitely an outlier within the Auburn “family”.
What are you talking about about? Butch left in the fall of '15 to take the Auburn head coaching job. Previously he was State's pitching coach. Cohen didn't fire him. Butch earned a head coaching opportunity at another sec school. Then Cohen brought Mini Me(Wes Johnson) in for the '16 season helped win the sec regular season crown then left to take the pitching coach job at Arkansas.
Unpopular opinion. Really don't get the hate for Auburn. They are very similar to us. Just with more money. I like Butch, and the whole Cam thing is nothing we didn't try to do but failed to get done.
You have the Cam thing wrong. What happened was Auburn cheated their asses off to get him, and tried to say WE were the ones cheating and they were as pure as the driven snow. Auburn was also the one that got the cowbells banned for decades.
Right. We never offered any money to Cam, I'm sure of it. The cowbells were banned by a vote of 9-1 for decades.

I doubt Mullen was involved in negotiations. But I also don't think we would offer $0. If so, he definitely made the correct choice and won the NC and Heisman Trophy. Which he MAY have done here but for $0?
I did not say that. They paid him enough to get him, and claimed we were the only ones to offer him money. They tried to get us on probation for what they actually DID. They were also the ones that got the cowbells banned for decades.
I want to like Auburn. I really do. For the reasons you say, plus I have Auburn family. But Terry Bowden, Tommy Tubberville, Gus Malzahn, Hugh Freeze, Bruce Pearl, and John Cohen; all very good reasons to hate Auburn. Plus, other than maybe A&M, that place is the biggest cult of weird people in the SEC.
None of those guys really ever bothered me other than Freeze. Cohen is interesting. From Tuscaloosa, and I have to think raised Roll Tide. Becomes a lifetime Bulldog even moving to head coach and AD. All to end up at Auburn. The only way it gets more interesting is if he retires at Alabama.
A&M doesn't even have anyone in second place. They take the whole category.

The deal was with Cam's Pimp Poppa. Mullen didn't think he'd have to play that card for Cam.
Nevertheless, our bagmen still countered with a $180k offer. Which Pimp Poppa laughed at when he took the 300k plus from Aubie.
They certainly got the return on that investment and Poppa got new designer cushions for the pews in his church and a brand new home stereo system. Blessed be the Lord.
I thought the story was Auburn offered $200K but Daddy Newton said we could get him for $180K (10% discount) just because Cam had a fondness for Dan and Megan.

Probably just ****** luck vs just ****** coaching but now that little sawed off MF’er is coaching for a Natty and just may get it if we can’t find a way to win 2 outa 6 or 7 attempts.
