Attendance-related question

Like they often do for football, Rutgers offered my school district a very limited number of free tickets to tomorrow's game. I was able to get 8. Unfortunately, we got 3 pairs and 2 singles. They range from section 311 to 314.
My question is this. Do you expect a lot of no-shows upstairs? Do you think we'll be able to get at least 4 and 4 sitting together, if not all 8?
Thanks for any help.

So far in both games it has been a pretty packed house. May not seem like it at first bc traffic and lines cause some delay getting in. I think there MAY be some opportunity considering it will be on a Friday night but the big question mark is if Ace plays or not.

Damn, good point. I have 4 in one section, row J and L. Hoping maybe I can do some maneuvering to get those 4 together.

Doesnt hurt to ask the people sitting in the corresponding seats to help out. I know ive had similar situations and if its about keeping friends/families/parents kids together whats the difference in 2 rows?

Good for the OP for being able to go the game but again with the ticket shenanigans from Rutgers. Do they not want to sell as many tickets as possible?

Yea was told by my ticket rep. That there are no single game or season tix available. Yet we hear many times that tix are being given away for free. The disrespect the leadership shows to the most ardent and loyal fans is amazing. But they reward single game buyers for football with various enticements.

Tonight will be more packed than the first 2 games. Full house!
As someone said above…. I suggest getting to your seats about 15 minutes early and ask people, someone will switch. Enjoy!!!

Enticements for football were to make up for the product on the field. Basketball did it during the Jordan years.

I sit in 314... It's been packed both games. Never seen it like this for the cupcake games. Don't expect anything different tonight either with Ace playing and it being a Friday night

Luckily, my 8 year old son has about a 4-inch wide butt, so we'll probably be able to fit 3 of us into 2 spots. (My wife, a Monmouth alum, is bailing.)

The weirdest part of the way they distributed them....my wife and I each put in for 4 and were given 4. . But one of hers and one of mine made a pair. Why on earth wouldn't they put them together? Anyway, I'm going to sell the one remaining single and one pair for $10 each, just to pay for my parking in yellow. They didn't provide that with the tickets. If anyone wants a pair in 312 or a single in 311, email me at [email protected].
Edit: single is gone. Still have a pair in 312, row H if anyone wants them.

So who deserves the enticement more. The season ticket holder or the one off game buyer? Loved how they gave free beer and food to the single game buyer but the season ticket holder gets a hi do ya do handshake...

Is that really a question. The season ticket holder by a mile.

I have 2 seats for basketball and 6 for football. At the start of last basketball season I tried to add more basketball tickets and was told none are available but they are giving seats away???

Then why did you respond to my earlier post the way you did? Sounded like you were implying that single game purchasers deserved the entitlements.

I thought all of the games were “sold out” according to the ticket office?

They probably keep some very limited seats for guests for the athletic department or players families etc. I’m guessing those seats were not fully used for this particular game so they gave them away to local schools.

Yea is it hard to believe they keep 2 tickets per game for each player and coach? Maybe 1 or 2 for the university pres and AD guests? Celebrities etc? That’s probably 50 tix each game they will dump for the OOC games.

The arena can be soldout in terms of ticket sales but that doesnt mean everyone is showing up

They do but many of those seats are behind the RU bench.

They’re not putting celebrities, VIP guests or players’ families in section 311. Think, McFly.

If you went to seat Geek a day or two ago there were tons of tix across the uppers for like $14 each. All listed the same exact price. Those were not individual people selling their games and they weren't tix held back for VIPs. (laughable theory by some). My friend who works at the Flemington food pantry said they were offering free football tix for next sat's. game vs. Illinois.

Rutgers flat out screwed it loyal fans (again) with these shenanigans. Giving away free football tix not in demand I can see but basketball THIS season? A holes. (but again good for you mike as I know you're a great fan..)

It’s a marketing practice and I doubt RU is the only school doing it - they already have the season ticket holders locked in and you and I and they know we are not giving up our tickets just because of this. So they try to get new eyes in the game and attract more season ticket holders. Do existing Directv or SiriusXM subscribers get the same offers as new subscribers? Of course not.

A bird in the hand. Why not sell additional season tickets to those who want them instead of holding back probably a couple hundred tickets for single game buyers at lower prices on seat geek?

If you're talking about football I get it.. I think I said that. Giving away upstairs Tix to kids and charities etc when we have thousands unsold doesn't bother me..

I have no way of knowing how many organizations got the offer of free tickets, but I can tell you that it was only 24 minutes between the offer and a follow-up email saying thry were gone. They probably had about 20 tickets total, most of which were singles.
