Thursday night start at 6pm does not spell good turnout. I am thinking it could be half of smooths prediction. I hope big time I am wrong. We will add to the number as we will be there. Tailgate starts at 2:30 (a couple hours later than a usual tailgate start) and yes we will be in our seats before kickoff. We love the whole scene of Excalibur and the team coming out on the field.

Note: Continuing students living in on campus housing don’t move in until after the game (Friday at the earliest).. New students (frosh and transfers) can move in as early as this Tuesday.
Ahh - I did not know that. I assume that won't help matters attendance wise

I saw folks moving into the big off campus apartment buildings last week. Things are picking up again.

It’s weird because sk.com only has a handful of lower level sections available, however, the upper deck is pretty wide-open.

Obviously the student section is closed off as our 112 through 121.

Going to struggle to get over 30k at peak...kickoff time is horrific..f its nice people stay in the lots plus if its like 28-0 at half peeps will bolt. Cant really see the big incentive for students when the day will be about catching up and partying
I base my prediction on what was available on scarletknights.com as well as they’re being some anticipation for the season, especially from the students as I thought they would be all moved in by now

Also, I thought these 6 o’clock start time would be good for my tailgating perspective, but also to your point, the students bailing and halftime if it’s a blowout

Our crew loves the start time, but I imagine people who work for ballbusters might struggle with it. When I was working people weren't usually dicks right before a holiday weekend and I never had to worry about it, as I put in so many extra hours I never had to defend taking off early once in awhile.

That’s kind of how I look at it, as if you do the right thing majority of the year and go above and beyond for your employer, they are OK one or two times a year You have to head out a little early for personal things.

Obviously, everybody’s situation is different, but personally, I love this time

Rutgers would be thrilled if 25k actually showed up.
Horrible game day/time, bad opponent, etc.

Can continuing students move in early? 6PM start with an 8:30-9 post-game party. Even so I don't see more than 32,500 the day BEFORE a long weekend Friday.

No way in holy hell we are getting almost 40K in the stadium. Even if there are 40K in the lots, at least 10k will be drunk and not make it inside. This is a tailgate game (i.e., glorified scrimmage).
You’re probably correct
I have a ton of optimism for the year and figured most others would as well

Excitement for the program this season is pretty high. This is the type of game fans would come up with excuses not to attend if the team was expected to be bad or simply ho-hum.

Conversely, it's the season opener and many fans are eager to see RU this year. Hence, they'll come up with reasons to attend instead of excuses to sit it out.

I'll be surprised if there's not 35K in the stands.

My wife and I will be in attendance but a Thursday at 6 is going to prevent many from joining us.

Actual attendance will probably be around 29,500

I’d like to be surprised with a larger turnout but I understand if not.

I can't understand why the local casual fan can't get up for this matchup and get their butts out of work and to the ballpark !

I can’t blame him, as Rutgers fans it’s in our DNA!
As an RU fan since birth (due to my father), I’ve seen some **** as Chappelle says. Only way to be a long term fan and stay sane is to have very low expectations.

Because they may need to put in a full day Thursday so they can duck out early on the Friday of a long weekend. If this game was Friday I'd the up the attendence by 10k.

I'm stopping work at 3 -- and I'll have to do it again for Washington. It's not easy to do and I don't have too many restrictions on me; though I like that the kickoff time keeps the weekend free.

My group of 2 will have 100% attendance!
