Jay Powell said earlier in the radio broadcast that Ace would definitely not project as a 3rd baseman in the pros, and that 1st base was likely his landing spot. Said no issues offensively, but they'd have to find a spot for him defensively
I’m sure. Either first or LF. But it was highly doubtful we were going to find someone that was a dramatic improvement over Reece at 3rd that was also a better hitter than stallman… not to mention stallman was a great first baseman.

Regardless of the outcome my ***, we lost to those ******** SIX (6) straight times, and that's with half of them being within the friendly confines of DNF!! There ain't nothing close to well matched between these two teams!!

He doesn't project as a 3rd baseman in the pros. Jay Powell said as much on the radio broadcast earlier in the game. Said his offensive talent was not an issue, but they'd have to find a place for him defensively, and also said 1st base would likely be his landing spot in the pros
Two points:
  1. I'm not sure his projected MLB position should be viewed as determinative of where he plays in college.
  2. While JP did say that, he also noted that the Ace was handling 3B well. His view seemed to be less about the player's ability to play 3B and more about the belief that first base may ultimately be the better fit at the professional level.
