We have been there before. It all started to regress beginning in 2001 and accelerating greatly 3 years later.

okay...

one last comment on this... but have you all seen the App that syncs the flash on your smartphone with music? the opening for Marquette is pretty cool. the arena is pitch black --- and the opening music is set and thousands have their phone out w this App opened and the random flashing synced with the music is something to behold.

I'll bite....devout Catholics are better basketball fans than loosely tied Presbyterians?

Not necessarily.. but the connection breeds enthusiasm, a sense of belonging, and more loyalty.

Xavier and Marquette play in a primarily catholic league so there are natural rivalries.

Our rivalries suck. We have changed conferences more than lady Gaga changes costumes.

Combine poor basketball with unfamiliar opponents and you get what we have...

Being bb only schools in a bb only league might have a little to more to do with it than affiliation. On top of simple quality entertainment.

And ditto the OSU points.

folks...

floor product matters. it matters a lot.

look at X's and MU's rosters... top 100 recruits are fun to watch.

but game time atmosphere --- drink, food, restaurants, bars... full of fanatic fans wanting to have a great time.

Oklahoma State found out this year how to turn around a dead program in one year. (nothing to do with Catholics)

Bring your own sheep night was a big success...

Hmmm.. go find a successful head coach from the bob huggins family tree... offer him more money to move from a lower conference to a higher one ... and figure out how to keep your sharpshooter from transferring?
