Not rooting for or against the guy, but my gut said when he left here that he just didn't want to play football anymore. I was a lil shocked he transferred anywhere.
He quit on his team last year just 2 games in

I was disappointed Rhule allowed it to happen

Piss poor teammate. 1 of 2 “me first” guys we thankfully dumped from the QB room as soon as the season ended.

If somebody doesn't wish to put in the work to be able to accomplish something, then they don't really want to accomplish it....i fail to see the difference.
I see your point but I think there is a difference. One can have certain ambitions but lack the fundamental character to fulfill them. I think Sims is immature and not very bright. So having a lot of very honest self knowledge may not be in his wheelhouse. In fact, he might be a bit arrogant and delusional. My point is that I think he still has "Uncle Rico" syndrome and is still living out his high school popularity. I think he really wants to play football but always as an exercise in reliving past glory. And that came without a lot of hard work. He wants the success but does not know how to achieve it.

its hard for me to be too critical of him. These guys are 19-23 year olds. I can only draw from my own stupidity and cluelessness at that age. One time when my wife was really pissed I asked her why she married me. She replied "I thought you had money.".... Wrong. Good heavens there was no way I was mature enough to get married and have kids. College football players who are younger in most cases than I was then? Yeah I'll cut most of them some slack.

Well, I am agreeing with you. I am responding to those who are claiming that Sims doesn’t really want to play football. My response is “Yes he does but he is too young and immature to really figure out how to make that happen”.

If your stance is Sims is to stoopid to realize he needs to work hard to play football at this level.....and that he could be a real player if he did.....then he's a flaming dumbass, or he doesn't want to play football. Either one is a bad look.

You guys are dogging Sims way too hard. There is no doubt in my mind that he means well and "wants it" but the hard reality is that not everyone is cut out to be the #1 QB at many places. Sims is a phenomenal physical talent but there is a lot that goes into being a good QB. He just does not have some of those things unfortunately.

I don't think he's a phenomenonal physical talent. He's a big qb. Didn't seem all that fast or at least no faster than most other qbs we've had.

He got paid, he was comfortable sitting the pine for the rest of the year…he had no motivation to get better i.e. practicing till dark, getting guys for 7-7, or ball control drills after he kept screwing up in games.

I think it is obvious he wants to play football. But what is more obvious is that he does not want to put in the hard work to succeed at that. He wants to rely on raw athletic talent as if he is still the star QB in high school. But he keeps finding out that on the P5 level that you actually need to know the playbook, know defenses, and be in sync with the other offensive players on the team. None of which he has accomplished.
I think he just can’t handle the pressure of performing when the lights are on. I don’t think Rhule is a fool, And yet he named Sims as a starter, And said great things about him when as a player In crunch time HH was better. I have to figure that Sims looked great in practice, But not so good when the green jerseys come off and the consequences are big when you throw to the wrong team or fumble the snap. Sims was really good at both of those things.

Sims was the worst starting QB in the past 50 years. Probably the best athlete physically we have had but just not able to play the position.

Wow...haven't heard a lot of people say that. He's 6'4" 225 pounds, has a cannon for an arm, and is at least this fast:

But I guess our definitions of physical talent are a little different.

All three quarterbacks who took snaps for us last year have lost their QB competitions and will start the year as backups. Ouch.
It was the worst QB room in the P5 last year no question.

A year later and BTN crew is saying it’s one of the best in the Bigten. Crazy how fast things can change when you have the right coach. Just look at the WR room too. Night and Day.

Exciting times ahead.

Just snagged a Joseph Magnus Cigar Blend from there. Need to be quick and lucky. And make sure Jeff Sims isn't holding that bottle after you buy it.

How does that speed compare to even some of our most recent qbs? HH, Amart, Smothers? Probably roughly the same. Cannon for an arm is pretty subjective. 59% passer with a 1:1 td to interception ratio.

Zooming out, you can probably add Logan Smothers and Casey Thompson to the list. This means there are currently five quarterbacks currently playing college football who have started at Nebraska, and all five could be backups.

as well as Luke McCaffrey. He was backup at Rice for a minute.

Yep, and Vedral and AM got benched too. But they are gone now and it absolutely blows my mind that we have 5 former starting QB's till in college and none of them are good enough to start anywhere ( disclaimer: Smothers could still win the job at Jacksonville State)
