Any chance we have any changes to the coaching staff this off season? I have yet to figure out what barbee and Justus bring to the table. They just setting back drawing a big fat payday.

Barbee is an unmitigated disaster. He was awful at Auburn and when he came here I cringed. Early on Cal sold the idea that he would teach our guys the changing 2-3 zone he had his guys play at Auburn. I’m still waiting. A useless hire years ago still riding the gravy train.

Shame on Cal.

Cal simply has used UK to further his personal agenda.

Happened to listen to KSR this for the first time in a while. MJ said he doesn’t think Cal makes any staff changes. Of just his gut feeling.

Justus and Barbee would be the only 2. I don't see Lucas or Flint going anywhere.

Robic isn't even technically a coach really anymore.

Flint is a very sold coach. I just think unlike Saban, Cal wants to micro manage every possession on both ends, let those assts contribute to the point using them as offensive and defensive coordinators.

Barbee is the one guy I would consider getting rid of. I feel like there is 1 spot available for a failed head coach on the staff and I'd rather have Bruiser than Barbee. As for Justus, I've said this before, but he was just promoted too quickly too soon. He went from High School coach in 2013-14, to Director of Analytics in 2014-15 to Special Assistant to Cal in 2015-16 to Full-time Assistant Coach in 2016-17. I think a nucleus of Justus, Bruiser and Lucas can be a decent nucleus. I also think it would be great to bring in a former player as Director of Basketball Operations. Cal did this with Milt Wagner at Memphis and then with Rod Strickland. Strickland worked his way up to being an assistant coach. I'm not sure who that guy is, but I think it would be a good move.

Anybody really think Cal listens to any of them? Now maybe we need a new recruiter/evaluator.

This is where I'd want Cal to make a statement. When teams go south in pro sports, an assistant gets fired. Even if it isn't solely on that one assistant, the HC needs to show that a change is being made which sends the message that "things next year will be different".

If Cal doesn't make ANY changes for next year (assuming we don't make the NCAAT), then that's a problem, and it will be another nail in his coffin. The caveat here, is there might not be many options out there presently, so firing Barbee might be more of a 2-year thing. Still, 351 schools.. over 1,000 assistants who would come here.

I’ll ask the same question I always ask when this discussion comes up.

For those of you that have been present at practices, in film study, in locker room meetings, and in sideline huddles, what exactly are the assistant coach’s strengths and weaknesses?

Then how come KP is so much more valuable than them? It can't work both ways. If KP was so important to this team, then that means Cal has them doing something.

And it's basketball, not football. IDK if I want anyone but the HC calling the plays. Let the assistants work on fundamentals, developing players, working on game tape, opponent acouting..

Which.. makes me ask.. What in the actual **** are they doing exactly?! What did Barbee, or any of them do this year to make this team better? Sure, Cal is the head coach, he gets top blame.. but we've been blaming him every minute, every day, for months. Let's move our sights a little bit, even just for today..

What the hell can Barbee put his stamp on to say "here's what I did!". The team has been crap from top to bottom, lacks basic fundamentals.. that's on the assistants.

how is ulis not a high character individual?

He was best friends with Devin Booker. The Suns cut Ulis because he was such a bad influence on their franchise player. If you have followed him over the years since he left UK it would be easy to see. He was a great player at UK but that doesn’t mean anything about his character.

Antiqua’s character as a coach was on display big time at USF.

What’s wrong with Ulis? Besides the fight in the elevator what else is wrong with him??!?

Maybe Mitch needs to step in and do his job and tell Calipari that he will make some changes to the staff. He had enough balls to tell Tubby to make changes and Tubby left for Minnesota.

He doesn't have a coaching position anymore. He is a special asst to the head coach or some ****. He literally isn't a bench coach anymore.

No but they kneel...
If this team was undefeated this right here is what the board would be going crazy about.

Good thing social media wasn’t around when Pitino had his picture taken with Bill Clinton back in 1996, this place would have really went off the deep end.
