Dear Lord, We pray for the successful surgery and recovery of our brother (fairgambit). Please comfort him and his family as they navigate this difficult time. May your presence be a source of comfort to him and his family. Guide his surgical team, give them the strength, skill and wisdom to bring our friend back to health.
Until we communicate again in a few weeks!

From time-to-time posters make prayer requests on this Board for family, friends, or for themselves. When I read them, I try to respond as best I can. Today I humbly ask for prayers for myself.
As I have mentioned in the past, Mrs. Gambit is a stickler for our privacy, so I will not provide the date or place, but in the coming days I will be undergoing open heart surgery, primarily to repair a badly leaking heart valve. The operation is serious, but my surgeon is among the very best and the chances of success are over 90%. Still, there are no guarantees. I have always been a strong believer in prayer and I will need all the help I can get going forward, so I ask that if you have a brief moment, and are so inclined, please ask the Good Lord to grant me a successful surgery and a quick recovery.
I don't want to put a burden on my wife in providing a post-surgery update and so I will just say that if all goes well I will let the Board know as soon as I can. If you don't hear from me by the middle of August...well, lets not even think about that.
Thanks in advance for all who might answer my plea.
My best wishes to all who post here. May God Bless us, every one.

Respectfully,
fairgambit
Heavenly Father, you are the greatest physician, you created our marvelous bodies, as we are "fearfully and wonderfully made" as you tell us in Psalm 139. You said in Jeremiah 33: 3, "Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things which thou knowest not". We ask for your guiding hand upon every surgeon, OR Nurse, those administering and monitoring anesthesia, and OR technician for a successful outcome without complications, and a full recovery. Grant a calm and peace for his wife and family. I ask this in Jesus name.

My friend fairgambit,

Think of all the tough moments you've overcome in the past; this will be another one you'll conquer.
You've got this fair and may peace fill your heart as you and Ms. fair prepare for this critical venture into the unknown. We're all rooting for your strength and a beautifully smooth journey.

My grandparents, from "The Old Country", essentially raised me and enshrined in me their values in God and our Nation. I make my prayers every evening and you'll be on my list of family and friends.

Godspeed and God Bless Mr. & Ms. fairgambit

Prayers to you. Tell me how it goes. I may have to go through the same thing as soon as I get over this cancer.

Thanks for reaching out for prayers and well wishes. Mine have already been requested.

You are fortunate to live so close to what I consider the best medical area in the northeastern part of the USA.

Your surgery has become fairly common and I'm certain that you will do really well. (y)

By mid-December Bambi in the Mercedes will be chasing after, but unable to catch, you at the tree lot.

Lord we declare and believe in a successful surgery for fairgambit. I pray by Your Blood for his heart to be healed and 100% restored to perfect working order. We claim this victory NOW over all heart ailments in fairgambit's body!

We also pray for the doctors performing the surgery that the Lord will work through them to work flawlessly.

Finally, we pray for peace and comfort for fairgambit's wife and family through the surgery and overall medical process.

In Jesus's Mighty Name,

AMEN!

My friend, I am not one who prays often, but you will have my prayers. May God grant you and Mrs. Gambit peace, guide your surgeon’s hands, and grant you a speedy recovery.

And, once you’re back on your feet, may this year’s Christmas tree come with another memorable negotiation.

I am humbled by the outpouring of prayers, encouragement, and support that followed my request for prayers in advance of my open-heart surgery. My wife was amazed by the response and said what most here already know....that this Board is a very special place.
I wish I could reply individually to each post, but the date of my surgery fast approaches and I have many things left to do. I am still seeing clients and tending to legal work than cannot wait.
Let me just thank all of you from the bottom of my leaking heart. I was really down when I made the post, but your collective response has comforted me and given me renewed optimism for a very favorable outcome.
Thanks to all and may God Bless us, every one.
