From time-to-time posters make prayer requests on this Board for family, friends, or for themselves. When I read them, I try to respond as best I can. Today I humbly ask for prayers for myself.
As I have mentioned in the past, Mrs. Gambit is a stickler for our privacy, so I will not provide the date or place, but in the coming days I will be undergoing open heart surgery, primarily to repair a badly leaking heart valve. The operation is serious, but my surgeon is among the very best and the chances of success are over 90%. Still, there are no guarantees. I have always been a strong believer in prayer and I will need all the help I can get going forward, so I ask that if you have a brief moment, and are so inclined, please ask the Good Lord to grant me a successful surgery and a quick recovery.
I don't want to put a burden on my wife in providing a post-surgery update and so I will just say that if all goes well I will let the Board know as soon as I can. If you don't hear from me by the middle of August...well, lets not even think about that.
Thanks in advance for all who might answer my plea.
My best wishes to all who post here. May God Bless us, every one.

Respectfully,
fairgambit

You are in my prayers Fair. You have another season with another new coach to look forward to! We’ve been on a coach-hiring spree the last 15 years or so!

@fairgambit -- I'm holding you in the light. And wishing you, and Mrs. Fair, the best of news before, during, and after the surgery.

I'm already looking forward to reading about a successful trip to a tree farm in December, to get the Gambit's Christmas tree.

And as always, if you need anything else from the Board Community, just ask.

Best of luck, @fairgambit

'Every sunrise and every sunset is a blessing' - that you will have for a long time. After 4 hours in the OR and 5 days in the hospital with lackluster food and nurses waking you at many different hours - we will hear from you with lots of energy - so .... Take Care !!

Dear Lord, We pray for the successful surgery and recovery of our brother (fairgambit). Please comfort him and his family as they navigate this difficult time. May your presence be a source of comfort to him and his family. Guide his surgical team, give them the strength, skill and wisdom to bring our friend back to health.
Until we communicate again in a few weeks!

How long ago do you get your heart valve replaced?

I firmly believe that a good and gracious God will guide your surgeon's hands and eyes.

I firmly believe that your caregivers during the pre-procedure preparations, during the actual procedure and during your postoperative recovery will be guided by that same good and gracious God.

I also firmly believe that good and gracious God will carry you through so that we can all be regaled with your inimitable witty banter here on this board of brothers and sisters.

We got your six, fairgambit.

All the best and prayers to you. You’ll be back on here in no time.

If things go bad, everybody on this board will throw a challenge flag and the play will be overturned on review.

I know this is going to go well for you. Sending you all my best wishes, prayers, and good vibes to make it so.

My mother and my aunt both had good outcomes from valve replacement surgeries over the years. May you procedure fall right in line with theirs!
