I mean this sincerely, the kid is in way over his head. Plays really hard but just does not have the talent to play at this level. Slow, ok handle, can’t create his own shot, ok shooter, airball from four feet excluding.

I am not ripping on the young man but additional experience can’t make up for the lack of physical attributes. Cal really missed on him

You should direct your complaints at Sarr. He has no idea what to do with the ball under the basket.

Let me get this straight. We just beat Tennessee by 15 points at their place with Askew running the point and the first thing that comes to your mind is to wax negative?

3 of 4 shooting. Hit his only three. 4 to 1 turnover ratio...yep he sucked...or you are high. One or the other.

This is where we miss having Kenny on the bench! He could have helped Sarr!
Someone needs to throw the kid a lifeline. It isn't that he doesn't score down low like he should; he appears completely lost down low. He even struggles to pass the ball out of the post while being the tallest player on the floor.

He's actually much better than he should be. The problem is, he's a 4 year player that will be really good eventually, but he's been tossed into the fire in his freshman year. It's not fair to him, but this experience will pay off in the future, maybe even next year.

And he embraces it, has the courage to continue to compete and talks about how he loves the struggle because he knows what awaits him on the other side of the struggle. So do we want all 1 and dones or do we want 4 year players that will develop over the course of their career? I’m sorry I just get confused by the constant moving goal post.

Askew makes mistakes but you can tell he cares which is a sign of a guy that is going to get better and better. I thought he played well defensively too. I thought a couple of those fouls called him were questionable. He played damn good defense today. I think he will continue to improve and will do well in the future here.

Had a really hard time with the press. He will be much better and stronger next year. He will be a bull in the lane his senior year.

I want 4 year guys, have been saying it for years. If you can get a Zion or a Cunningham, fine, mix them in with a veteran lineup and go win a title, but give me Askew and Mintz over all these 2nd tier 5 star kids that have no bb iq or skill.

Hate this perspective and what the entire Cal approach has done to kids like Askew. He’s a a freshman and has had good moments. But Cal and his approach means the Cats rely too much on Askew too soon and can’t develop. Askew is the type of player who at a place like Nova would become Collin Gillespie his junior and senior years. Can’t wait to see him develop.

The TEAM had a problem with the press. They were sending 3 players at him because they weren't trying to win at that point they just wanted to rough up Askew.

His effort will help get him to where he needs to be and where we want him to be. I don’t think he will be an elite PG but I do think he will be a really good college PG. We need some old guys on the team-he will be that for us.

We need to get rid of these negative fans. We just played the best game game at Tennessee and dominated them and we still have the negative so-called fans out today.

I just love how some fans think the final score somehow negates any kind of critique. I enjoyed the win, glad to get it but this team looked like a train wreck against the press in the last 4 minutes. You might get away with it in a 20 point game, but if it's close, you're taking the L.

Askew is slowly getting better as the season goes on.
Will be a SOLID pg next year.
Kids can get faster. Kids can get stronger. Kids can learn to pass better. Kids can learn to play smarter. Kids can learn to play defense better. Hell, I've even heard a rumor that kids can actually grow taller.
We call them Multi-year players. What some of you claim you want, but then trash them.

Thanks for posting his stats. He held his man to half of his season average today. He is a typical freshman, learning and getting better each and every game. I have a much more critical view of Sarr, he is a senior but looks lost more than a upper classmen should. Toppin is making great strides, getting very comfortable now that he really understands the the offense and defense.

This is kinda mind boggling to me. Reason being, is because we thrashed the LSU press the entire game when we played them. Then, UT throws a press on today and we struggle with it. I know UT is a much better defensive team than LSU, but still.
