I think it was reputable posters like 'are you nuts' and others that stated this last year. So we should expect big things from ash and staff just a few days from signing day. Chris shall be closing and getting us a big time recruiting class. Looks decent so far. Let's go RU

The only I ever said - since you felt the need to point me out - was that everything I/we read, from his past mentors AND B1G media, was that he was a very good recruiter and solid closer. Now...that doesn't mean he's gonna swing 3 4-star kids this week...and he's also not recruiting at Ohio State. Top it off with a 2-10 start and let's see what happens. Very solid class so far, however, considering everything.

On the other hand, there was one poster who shall be named often as the years move along, who flat-out stated that Ash is a "horrible recruiter" and it was well known, or something like that, I've got to find it lol. Anyway, here's to a GREAT stretch run!

I thought you posted at one point that you worked in sales the ash guy gets it and is a seller and a closer. If that wasn't you , I aplolgize . But I still hope ash is seller and closer.

I always said that Flood WASN'T a closer, for sure, and yeah I've been in sales forever ugh...lol. I may have said that bout Ash, however, as I said previously it was based solely on, literally, every sound bite and press quote we heard and read, about him, at the time. I definitely prefaced it as such, as well, because like you, and pretty much everybody else here, I hardly knew anything about the guy;

Glad we know who to blame if Rutgers recruiting class of 2017 isn't a HUGE success !
Don't look at Ash, forget about Flood and Schiano had nothing to do with it .
We now know who to point our fingers at: >AreYouNUTS

A year ago he was at the meaningless OSU bowl game instead of at RU. We were told we have to wait until he has a full year to recruit.

Great thing about recruiting is you can declare a coach a great recruiter, or a closer, and everyone will believe you. RU fans need to really push the idea of Ash as a living room whiz to allow the rep to generate within the high school programs

On what? He went 2-10 and has a much better class than any of Flood's.
But nobody is comparing him to Flood, in case you haven't notice Flood didn't get rehired by a Big Ten team. He needs to recruit better than Urban, JH, Franklin, and Durkin... beating past classes is worthless if it doesn't match up with the people we're actually playing

If you think he's gonna do that in one year after going 2-10 then I suggest rooting for another team because it is pure delusion. This thing is a 5 year build.

He's not going to recruit better than urban, harbaugh or even Franklin . He needs to get good enough talent that we can win 2-3 big games a year and get to bowl games . That will be a start.

Floods head coaching record. 27 - 24

How long do you think it will take Ash to break .500? Serious question.

If KF had to coach against the B1G East for the entire duration of his RU coaching tenure, I guarantee you his overall record would have been radically, drastically, and precipitously WORSE.

And as far when Ash will reach .500, that will depend on his recruiting classes and the overall coaching acumen of both CA and his staff. Period.

Some people don't understand that we were destined for a 2-4 win season (the same way in Floods first year as HC we were destined to win the conference, and in our first year in BIG, destined to win 8-9 games) no matter who our HC was this year. The roster has been on the decline. Now I don't want to go into more detail on that and the missed opportunity Flood f***** up to have raised the talent level in the program once and for all - but I'll just say we are very lucky to have the class Ash put together this year with a week to go. TRUST ME it could bbe MUCH WORSE.

I still don't understand all of the 2 and 9 people on this board. Every one of these kids was told exactly what they were getting into.lm sure ash told the recruits that the current players weren't recruited by him. He advised the current recruits that they'd have a chance to start and build a winner. there is always a honeymoon with a new coach. These kids were all sold (or not ) during the honeymoon. Schiano followed shea who was worse record wise. Schiano was awful his first couple of years with much less to sell and did absolutely fine recruiting.

You see this watch. It's costs more than your car.

Then you'll say " I used to be a recruiter".
Get them to sign on the line that is dotted.

Our recruiting rankings are currently in the top half of the Big Ten which is almost not fair given our results last year ... Ash is killing it. That said, we are 7th in the B1G but 6th in the East - the only team behind us is Indiana, and the only team from the West ahead of us is Nebraska. You know at first I was so excited to be in the division with all the big boys but maybe they should switch up the divisions after all.

The wild knight was a better offense than last years debacle.

It's nice to support the team and the players etc. but people aren't going to keep buying $50 tickets to watch a team lose badly.

People complain that RU fans are negative. Well yeah it just gets old when you donate and buy tickets and we're right back to where we were 17 years ago.

We're not, however, we are in bad place thanks to the moron Kyle Flood. Like it, believe it, or not, it's FACT.

That's the point I try and drive home. Ash is taking over Flood's declining recruiting classes, and isn't left with much to work with. He needs to get his players in here and get his systems going. Will he do it? I sure hope so. He has me sold. And he is putting together a pretty decent recruiting class given what the entire college football nation knows about Rutgers. Improve the recruiting classes over the next couple of years, and then see what the coaches can do with the players.
