I’m confused from the people who are needing both Sharpe and Oscar to be here next year to have a good team. If they were both here it would be one of the better rosters in recent memory for any team not just Kentucky.

The run away NPOY returning to college for the first time in over a decade
A Bob Cousy finalist senior Wheeler
Developmental depth in Collins, Ware, etc.

In actuality it will probably be missing Oscar and Shaedon filling in the holes with a couple big time transfers and probably one depth one. Still a projected top 10 roster and national title contender. If you’re tired of Cal, think that isn’t good enough at UK, etc. you wouldn’t be wrong. But next year will still be very good whether it’s something to get excited about after the last couple years is kinda on the individual fan.

His stats even bear out that these people have no effing clue. Shooting isn't the only aspect of the game. It's just one.

It’s the one that determines success or failure for a pg. as a big ok you can survive wo a shot but as a pg in the current college game no fn way look at the teams and show me who was successful this year with a feast or famine pg? Btw wheeler just can’t shoot. He turns the ball over at an unacceptable rate, half his bad shots are basically turnovers and the guy is 5’8”. There’s a lot more going against him than an inability to shoot. When st Peters showed zone and in OT wheeler went head case too. No wheeler! He’s fine for ole miss or Missouri but not UK not for a man who has never had a significant runnin the tournament wo an elite pg. get it?

We know Allen, Hopkins, Mintz, Grady and TyTy are gone.

Brooks is probably gone.

Oscar is the trump/wild card and Sharpe is the icing on the cake. I think we get 1 of the 2 to stay and hope both (one can dream).

Assuming no one else transfers (I know what assuming does), this is what we can logically gather for next year's roster and my stab at comparing.

So at bare minimum I think we are adding at least 3 transfers, possibly as many as 5.

I actually like the fact that Brooks is moving on and kind of that Hopkins is tbh. I like Hopkins long term but Cal was trying to fit him into a position that wasn't right for him now (3).

At this point with the way CBB is free agent driven I have hardly no attachment to any of these players outside of those with personality (Oscar, Toppin, Wheeler). My only interest is replacing with better parts.

If Hopkins leaving let's us land a guy who is a better fit and more suited to stretch the floor and guard then so be it.

So much of this season lays on decision of Oscar in particular. If we lose Oscar all bets are off. If Oscar stays I think we could be better than last year as we can replace the guys who've left with better pieces. If not we could be looking awful tbh.

That’s what’s so frustrating lately, just return the guys who are eligible, and Cal has the number one team in the country.

Listen I made a post at the beginning of the season and told you exactly how itd go down with wheeler at point and it did. You can listen or continue to wander blindly pumping a guy who isn’t UK good at least if cal is serious about fixing things. Wheeler in the half court vs St. Peter’s should have been all anyone needed to see. You want to blow another season because wheeler isn’t the type of pg cal wins with? you have as many people who want cal to take a hike telling you wheeler isn’t the guy. That is essentially what people are saying. Wheeler ain’t coming back to come off the bench. Back to back seasons of accolades that you mention going into his senior year as a former top 100 recruit. Not technically "underclassmen", but the point is the same. They could all come back but they're not going to.

I still can’t figure out why anyone is even including Sharpe in a discussion. Also Oscar would be a dream to get back, I don’t think it’s going to happen at all.

Right now you’ve got Wallace and Livingston (which I’m not high on at all). Wheeler, Toppin, somebody, that one guy, some obscure transfer, and a really really short S&C coach who fights soccer moms.

I’m just glad Calipari is here. I trust in Calipari.

There’s several realistic scenarios where next years roster is better than this yr . Just say Oscar comes back for this ....the Ark State transfer is an upgrade over brooks . CJ= Grady. What if we get an upgrade at PG thru the portal? Could some combination of the freshmen + portal additions replace TyTy? What about any improvement from Collins and Toppin? I don’t get them gloom, at least not right now
