Yeah I saw this yesterday. Don't know how much truth there is to it. Their 247 guys are pretty locked in and I couldn't find anything on their board about it yesterday besides he's on the list, but there's a couple ahead of him.

Only one example that I know of, but hiring MSU's DC didn't work out too well for Texas. It promoted Manny's career perhaps, but didn't help UT much.

But why would Golding leave a perennial NC contender for a job with many more unknowns? Unless he doesn't like his boss or Texas doubles his salary, I cant see him going.

The only reason I can see is he wants to prove his worth as a DC and demonstrate that he isn't just the figurehead with Saban really running the defensive show. There has been a belief about that for years that Saban is the real DC.

Didn't really help Manny either, at all. He had to go to La Tech, MSU again, then to Miami to get 'back'. You don't go get on a sinking ship, which is why Arnett didn't go to LSU (or at least why he SHOULDN'T have gone, not sure the real reason, whether it's money or whatever). Only a desperate guy takes one of those jobs where the head coach has fired everyone just to save his job for another season.

At Texas this time around, Sark is in year 1 so you know he'll get at least 3 years. That's serious job security in coaching.

Bigger salary, prove you can build a program, better city to live in

Just a few.

Doesn't sound like he's super serious about a change right now. Perhaps he's interviewing with hopes of getting a home run deal.

LSU obviously is trying to save face. I think it's entirely possible he turned them down (due to demands and money obviously).

Of course our fans are over here saying LSU was in total control (you included).

Arnett already signed his extension and increased his buyout. He isn’t going anywhere unless a team just falls in love with him.

Its hard for me to imagine cost of living being anything but a footnote...

on the pro-con list of a guy making north of $1,000,000 and having to chose between coaching at Alabama or Texas. That's just me though.

If they offer he gone
If they offer and pay us the $2 Million for his buyout. He’d probably be the LSU DC already, but LSU wasn’t going to pay that $2M on top of the $3M they had to pay to buy out Pelini.
