Good for Army. Will be turning in to this game in case Jeff Monken becomes our next head coach if Frost loses next year.

Awesome for Army. I am happy for them.

Now our “own fans” can quit blaming Nebraska for their situation. Winking
Turns out according to at least to one Husker Sports Network person that the Independence Bowl against Army was never under consideration. The bowl they considered going to was the Guranteed Rate Bowl in Phoenix.

Dingle,
Is there ever a subject you do not see fit to correct us on?

Sheesh man. You really do not have to be right every single time.

Hey I admitted I was wrong on this earlier today. Now it appears according to Greg Sharpe that I was sort of right.

Who the fu@k cares?
Seemed like a lot of people on this board were very concerned. Even outraged that Nebraska’s decision to not play could have led to Army not having a Bowl Game. Granted, that doesn’t make a dam bit of sense, but still outrage none the less.

I wonder if they get to see their parents. (Sarcasm).
I actually think it goes way beyond seeing mom. The mental health aspect of it is real. I'm not sure another 10 days of football would have been that big of a deal, but man these guys didn't sign up for the military and they don't have the mental toughness of somebody who has been through boot camp. As you know, there's a well studied psychological reason they do things the way they do in boot camp. Most college students didin't make the decision to accept the kind of life somebody who enlists does. The mindset is not remotely similar IMO. IF we could run them through boot camp like the military does and still get the talent we needed, it would be a game changer for our football team. Discipline.

I think the first mistake was putting any blame on the players for this. Yes, the athletic department always had players vote on which bowl game to go to or to accept a bid. That said, the AD and head coach always have had the loudest voice in what was going to happen. For years, teams dodged other teams or picked better destinations and the ADs and coaches made that decision. I think the possibility of getting whacked by some no name team in a bowl game was determined to not be worth the risk to the brand. Personally, I think Moos should have shouldered this deal and just said, "At this time we believe it is in the best interest and health of our players, coaches and university to end the season now. In a normal year we would love to continue playing but the time has come to put the pads away for a few months".

IMO, this decision was coerced by Moos, Frost and Green to come out the way it did. IF the AD and Frost had said, "we want to go play Fumduck U in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl in Phoenix. Here's the resort we'll be staying at and here's their golf course, pools and amenities" and presented that option to the players, I think the vote might have been different. Instead it sounds like it was "do you want to go practice for another 5 days and play in another game?" As it turned out that game was cancelled any way because of the spike in COVID cases.

West Virginia is more of a team than we are, even if just due to this alone. Sad state of affairs Nebraska football is in...
Complete bunch of nonsense. WVU was already in a bowl and the other team cancelled. Don’t be ignorant .
