Your take is off considering Kentucky and Arkansas are not comparable programs. not even slightly. So you don't get to say players only wanted to play for Cal at Kentucky just like they only want to play for Cal at Arkansas. Many, many players say Kentucky is among their dream schools but not very many say that about Arkansas. The same could probably be said for Arkansas in baseball over Kentucky. But you do not get to say "Arkansas and Kentucky are essentially the same to a recruit and the difference is Cal." And the vast majority of UK fans understand that these were 1 and done players who have been in the league for 5-15 years. Of course they aren't thinking about UK all the time but they have absolutely nothing to do with Arkansas. And Cal has earned the right to recruit high profile players at other schools now but make no mistake Cal was not a juggernaut recruiter before Kentucky, obviously, and Pope is just a bad recruiter/negotiator, nobody argues that. It's actually extremely narcissistic and crazy for Arkansas fans, like yourself, to think Kentucky had nothing to do with Calipari's recruiting, despite the fact that his NBA production increased 10x at Kentucky compared to Memphis and Umass. Like "a good recruiter going to a blue blood definitely had nothing to do with him all the sudden getting all the best recruits year after year"?
It's also very sneaky and disingenuous to leave out the part about NIL which was not a thing when Kentucky was racking up No. 1 recruiting classes year after year but now Cal and other schools are able to use that to draw recruits away from the traditional blue bloods to give extra incentive for recruits to go to Arkansas. And you do not get to talk about "brand" in basketball. There is a mountain of evidence that Kentucky, the literal winningest program in all of college basketball, with the #1 rated fanbase by EVERY media outlet/person very much so has an international brand that helps drive the sport.
