The expensive tickets last year for the UK vs Ark game was because of John Calipari and former players returning to Rupp and really has nothing to do with people caring about Arkansas or making them our 'super bowl'."

Kentucky fans are the most obsessed and passionate fan base in the country, and they’re obsessed with the coach they had for 15 years. Arkansas is no different than any other decent but relatively obscure basketball program. Kentucky fans have many other rivals and interests—Duke, UNC, Kansas, UCLA, UConn, Louisville, Tennessee, Indiana, etc.

If you polled UK fans about their top rivals before Cal left, Arkansas would be like 15th or something, and that’s only because they’re in the conference. But they’re like, “Y’all are so obsessed with Arkansas” LMAO.

It gives off major “Hey, please think about us—and don’t make it about Calipari, make it about us!” vibes.

They haven’t won in basketball but for a brief moment in the 90’s, and Kentucky swallowed that up and made it rather forgotten. They’re very jealous and envious of Kentucky and also football programs like LSU.

They are going to do what Tennessee does here and cling to any moment they get to say “we’re important”. Truth is all teams have moments. Vandy has had them, lol. They’re having one now. Indiana just had one in football it happens but these aren’t constants and they want to be. Auburn same way, they’ll go back to doormat. This always happens in every era.

So just ignore it and they’ll disappear. Cal will Cal and he’ll finish with those mediocre flameout years. They’ll make a bad hire in a couple of years after him, they’ll hire one of his tree to try and keep connected to the UK brand and hope it continues but it won’t because Calipari’s tree is the worst in the history of championship coaches.
Aaaand as always Kentucky will rise to the top like always. Guys we can’t be perfect and win everything every year. This stuff happens. Just ignore them, they’re irrelevant they just like the moments that they think they’re relevant. Arkansas isn’t top 10 and hasn’t had a final four since 1995? And Calipari isn’t getting them one either. It’s largely irrelevant they just don’t have anything else so they cling. All regional programs without a brand like Arkansas do this.

It was a fun rivalry in the 90s, the 2 teams dominated the conference. SEC tournaments were amazing then, I would guess 80% UK and Ark fans. Their fans were great, loved seeing and talking good basketball, and were a lot of fun to watch games with. It obviously dropped way off after Nolan, and the SEC has changed a ton with other schools finally starting to care about basketball. I don't think the rivalry will ever get back to that, but man, that era was fun.

I’m not here here to stroke your ego about Kentucky basketball. I’m telling you, we will get more excited about Auburn coming to Fayetteville in a week or two. They are good, and they just beat us pretty good at their place.

Btw, it took one of our players, Billy Richmond, to suggest a white out for tomorrow. We already did the stripes out against Tennessee, so don’t let that ego go through the roof when you see that tomorrow.
