Team's like Arkansas that go from irrelevant to "the place to be" must have great revenue sources for NIL. Even their football program went from bad to pretty good fast. NIL has changed the game for some schools.

@NoDef I don't know what the future holds with NIL, but NIL has been great for us. Lots of big time money with Walmart, Murphy USA (Walmart gas), Tyson Foods, and JB Hunt all HQ'd here and Warren Stephens (Stephens Inc.) in Little Rock. We aren't A&M level of NIL money, but it has definitely helped both programs tremendously.

I'm not a fan of those either. But, you have zero evidence that Muss would be a sure-fire homerun. At best, he is a roll of the dice. I prefer not to hand over the program to a roll of the dice.

Mark Few - I'm in. Jay Wright - I'm in. Flavor-of-the-month - I'm out.
I think it’s overwhelming likely we would get Scott Drew if the decision had to be made today reading the tea leaves.

If Calipari left UK today Muss would be on a very short list. 100%.

He’s kinda weird and short, but he would definitely get looked at. Have no idea why you think otherwise.

He’s weird as hell. He may be on a list but he wouldn’t be the choice.

I think it was just getting the right fit for a coach. After Nolan, the Hogs simply couldnt find that right fit.Arkansas has an abundance of in state talent that slipped away but with Muss coaching there now I think we start to see that talent stay home.
Makes for a good rivalry having Arkansas competing the way they used to but at least show a little better class when a big time game comes to the Hogpin than having fans showing their *** or tits during free throws..I mean it's not like they haven't ever won a title.

Because coaching at UK is not the same as coaching at Nevada or at Arky. Ask BCG. This job will eat up-and-comers for lunch.

I get why you like Muss...in his last two years, he has had 2 EE. You must be a member of the "short-sighted view" crew.
“Up-and-comers” describing a guy who got his first NBA assistant job 32 years ago, has been an NBA head coach for 2 teams, associate head coach at 2 power conference schools and the head coach of a mid major that he took to the Sweet 16 in his third year, when they won 9 games the year he took over and has taken Arkansas to back-to-back Elite Eights at a school that hasn’t been there in 26 years.

If that’s an up and comer, I’d love to see what an experienced guy is.

That’s the cowboi crews go to. Anyone would be BCG. So KEEP COW!!!!

They’ve got nothing so they have to resort to nonsense. To type it and think to yourself “yea, that’s it!” Is amazing. Fanbois are the worst.
Adults that use “boi” are a real close second.

He has been a college head coach since 2015, 2 years with the Warriors, and 1 year with the Kings in the NBA. He is a fine head coach for Arkansas.

Some of y’all are amazing. I once fired 5 people from a tobacco patch when my whole years work was threatened to go down the drain with incoming weather. And I had no go to for picking up the slack. But they were goofing off and slacking. So I sent them packing. Always somebody out there that can do better. Being afraid of change is the worst defense for any thing.

Agreed. Definitely the coach is the #1 factor and the deep runs. Yeah I know EE isn't exactly UK deep, but for us and our recent history it's deep runs. I always respected UK. Fun times.

As for the flashing...I mean look, that was awful. Low class. They should be banned for life and I have heard that at least one of them has (the male). But it was awful and low class for those two morons, not the Arkansas fanbase. I won't tell you not to choose to view those 2 people and apply it to the entire 20,000+ that were there, but we both know that would be ridiculous to do. That said, the students around them should have put an end to it for sure.

Hard no for Muss, at least right now. Not enough of an upgrade from Cal where I could justify moving on from Cal and adding Muss.

If this kid were recruited to Kentucky some people on this board would start 27 threads dog-cussing Calipari for it.
I am no Cal fan, but this is absolutely correct. Why do we care that Arkansas signed a guy that averaged 12 and 5?

Those are Keoin Brooks numbers and our fans couldn’t wait for him to leave town.

Yep…more overall coaching experience than any coach in UK history prior to taking the job and more head coaching experience than Joe B Hall, Rick Pitino, Tubby Smith (and BCG) when they came to UK. A real up and comer.

I’m not saying I’d hire Muss tomorrow, but calling him an up and comer is plain silly..

My kid played in a golf tournament in Bentonville about seven years ago. We had planned on going to the Walmart museum and the Native American museum, but it rained out the qualifying round of the tournament, so it kind of messed up the plans for the week. We didn't get to go to either one of them. It was the hottest two days in golf we ever had. The only saving grace was the golf course was much more flat than the courses she played here in Kentucky.

Ummmm absolutely. Have you not been paying attention the last couple seasons? He was WAY better in that loss to St. Peter’s. Somehow, Cal conveniently “forgot” about Toppin over on the bench in the second half.
That may be the dumbest thing Cal ever says. "Forgetting" guys are on the bench. Jesus if it were true I wouldn't admit it if I were Cal. He's got like what 8 to 10 guys to remember that they exist? If he's just saying that as an excuse for not playing a guy that's even worse because he's choosing to sound like a dumbass.

Exactly right. Either way you look at it, Cal sounds like a clueless buffoon here. In this scenario, his “memory lapse” cost us a loss in the first round to a 15 seed.

Personally, I think he just decided to ride Brooks, and his stubbornness got the best of him once again. Pretty wild considering Toppin was our second best player in that game, by a wide margin. It was absolutely obvious. The only better player in that game was Oscar.

Thats a whole different point than what I was arguing though. I agree obviously that Toppin should have had seen far more time in that game, but I still think the decision to start Brooks over him throughout the season was mostly the right one just due to his higher celiing when it came to scoring the ball which we needed and saw against teams like UT and Kansas.

Thing is, if Brooks isn’t hitting jumpers, he’s basically ineffective. He allows his shooting to dictate his effort on defense. He didn’t play very good defense to begin with. Toppin is better at every other aspect of the game but shooting IMO.

I'll lay it out for you in simple terms.

Mussleman has never coached at a program with the demands of UK. He is not a sure-fire hire. He is a roll of the dice. I do not want a coach that is a roll of the dice.

I am not entrenched in Cal's favor. I would be in support of replacing him with a coach that has more of a history than two EE at a football school. Mark Few - sure. Jay Wright - sure. Flavor of the month - NO.
Musselman has been a HEAD COACH in the NBA with the Sacramento Kings and Golden State Warriors. You have a simple mind.

I think every now and then we need to take the blue shade glasses off and realize that other coaches are as good or better than what we have.
I mean I heard the same things said about Calipari before he took the UK job.He could get ya there but cant finish.Except for 2012,I'd say that statement is true.I think Muss and even Pearl would thrive at UK.Both are made to coach in a pressure pack environmentBoth are hungry.Does that mean they win titles,I dont know,I guess time will tell but they can build teams, play styles kids like to play and can coach.Nothing wrong with saying another coach is good.

The current Waltons don't really care about Arkansas sports, they're more into art and bike trails and have invested millions into those in Northwest Arkansas. Every other fanbase assumes they just hand out money to Razorback sports though lol.

The JB Hunt Trucking Co. family has been very involved however, started an NIL consortium for Arkansas athletes. Other than them it's been mostly small businesses for the NIL deals that have been made public so far. I just don't see many huge companies like Walmart investing in college athletes but some of their local vendors and suppliers may which would benefit Arkansas by proxy.
