Not that anyone really cares but I will be staying. Football board seems to be totally screwed up though.

I have a feeling the basketball content will be much better here, also the Rivals interface is better too. Football content will probably be much better on TOS. Who knows where things end up. Sounds like the increased competition will improve the overall coverage.

For now I've moved over to the new board, but still will likely lurk here for a while. Interface isn't as good, but it's workable once you get used to it.

They are soliciting feedback from the migrating SN.com posters on things they want fixed when they update the interface this summer.

They really hurt themselves with trying to move folks over with such a crappy format and interface. As of now, this site has more traffic. That likely won't change until the upgrade happens.

if this has the better interface why even post over there?
The information is similar if not better here right now.

Do you have s personal relationship with John O?

Possible.

The biggest flaws I see are probably:
- lack of an "alerts" function that shows you when people have replied to you
- having to scroll to the top to "post reply" to a topic if I'm not replying to a specific user
- lack of a "search threads" functionality

Those are all workable for me. There has been some really good feedback around things they could do to make the interface better, which would make it a much better overall experience.

But remember, the site upgrade is 247, not SN. John is essentially hoping they will do the right thing and implement a good upgrade. But at the end of the day, it's 247's decision. That's risky.

Still lurking here. I'm not married to either site, really. Right now, I'm willing to continue to give Scarlet Nation a shot - if it doesn't work out, I'll come back to The Knight Report.

I don't know John personally, but I've always had good experiences with him and the other staff in threads. The RU# weather threads are now over there, as is jelly and BK and a few others. Haven't noticed a difference in overall staff content so far.

The one edge this board definitely still has is Russ Wood, which will be part of the reason I'll still lurk here.

This isn't SN, either.

247 is now the primary competitor to Rivals. They absorbed Scout last year and have been integrating those boards into its platform, and now are working on a full site redesign and are soliciting feedback from the inbound Rivals users on functionality they like and want to see.

I don't have any dealbreaking issues with the interface right now (and still frequent some non-RU boards that are worse), so it's not a bother for me. Rivals has some nice usability bits, but I'm not slave to them.

For now, my posting is primarily on ScarletNation, and I'll lurk on TheKnightReport. Time will tell if that continues.

First off...I'm thrilled that there are now several competent and dedicated sites that develop content pertaining to Rutgers Athletics. That can never be a bad thing!

Richie and I are good, but I've been with John O for his entire run.

That said, I was dialing back my online contribution before all this happened. I don't expect to be more than a background piece on either site. It's just time to turn down the volume a little

I've been on both for many years now and this website design is miles better and that's been confirmed now that more people see 247....at the same time, 247 has beefed up the commentary and details on recruiting over the last few years....

This site is truly unique, I've advertised for years on here and have made many friends because of that.....been invited to countless tailgating and been asked about information and have been able to ask others about information, all because of this site and the other site as well.

I believe John O was placed in a tough spot because this specific board is really well beyond football/recruiting/hoops.....If 247 can fix their interface/look and capture the same feel of this site AND provide the content, then it's a grand slam....

I said this on the football board too. I don't know why everyone here or on the football board board has a tendency to view it as either/or. It can be one, it can be both, it can be neither. It's up to each individual. I don't see any reason to choose. I can have my cake AND eat it too so why shouldn't I? Eventually I'm sure I'll develop a tendency towards one but that will just develop organically based on activity. If both are fairly active though then I'll still visit both.

I will say though that they lost an opportunity to make the move more "sticky" with some by not having the the design/functionality ready to go if multiple teams from here moved to there all on the same day. Right now it's not even a competition because of the layout. But you know this place had very outdated functionality/layout until just a few years ago don't forget. It's not like it will be this way in the future they are planning an upgrade to take place before the season starts. So you can't say what will be in the future, I'll see how good it is when that happens. The people there are good the people here are good so I'll continue to visit both.

Not important but I'm staying. I only use the Rivals ap. All the articles and message board stuff is on there and it's so simple and clean and easy to use.

Others have said TOS doesn't have an ap which is pretty weak in 2018. I'm not logging on to a computer or using my phone's web browser. It's just too annoying and outdated. Once you go ap you never go back

#1 is a DEFINITE need asap.
#2 I don't get. I just hit reply right at the last post and it adds it right to the bottom. If you want to reply to the specific poster you hit quote (at least that is how I am using it...but lots need to be figured out/explained. ) Like my company was..always changing software/tools that you just had to experiment with...

I am here for now at least because that site is so unreadable and 1997 in its presentation its pointless to post there...when they improve conditions that could change. Been with John O since the beginning so I have loyalty to him but I am not a recruiting guy at all. I don't follow football recruiting much at all so I realize that many switched right away because they are into all that stuff. For me with work picking up I post less in the off season anyhow but the interface over there right now is just a non starter. They needed to upgrade before the switch

Similar thoughts as bac - I definitely have a loyalty to John, but the interface over there has a long way to go. Likely will be posting in both spots.

Format of message board,.content provided by staff reporters ,sharing opinions regarding Rutgers athletics and insight on recruiting are the items that interest me the most.I will stay on this sight for the remainder of the contract year and see what happens in the interim.Winning football and mens basketball teams would help allay the fears of fans choosing a Rutgers web site.

The basketball board here was always very strong with excellent posters. There is no reason not to get the free content on both sites and let the paid memberships shake themselves out.

I don’t post much... now it’s just a pain in the butt to check two sites. This site neglected basketball for years, and I expect the other to be the same. Whoever posts better basketball content gets my business.

I agree with bac. I am here because the other website is horrendous. Plus I am not a premium user, so all that hoo doo don't have nothin to do with me. I could never read any of those articles anyway.

Plus, for free users, having guys like Russ Wood, Lex Knapp and others on here commenting on other sports actually makes it much better.
