Dayton is better for the long term and getting back to the round of 32. I always say with a 8 or 9 seed the only difference is the color of the uniforms and you get reamed 90 per of the time in the next round

And losing to a Q1 team on neutral court doesn’t hurt us….still in….the bubble has even weakened
It hurst us not in metrics but in the fact that the loss allows other teams to move ahead of us…whereas a win would have prevented that and moved us safely in.

Tell me who just moved ahead of us?
I didn’t say anyone did..yet…but I f Virginia Tech keeps winning or Indiana makes it to the final (if they are not already ahead of us), or even Wyoming, etc. lots of games left…except for us unfortunately. At this point, the only direction we can go is down.

Show me other bubble teams that have those types of notches on their belt. Those wins are not a fluke. One bad game before Thanksgiving cannot offset that list of wins. Or shouldn’t. If you were putting a basketball tournament together wouldn’t you want a team like that in there versus some team with a similar record that hasn’t proven that they could compete at the highest level but just compiled all of their wins against medicore competition?
Is there a team in the country that has beat more likely tournament teams?

a loss to a red-hot shooting Iowa team shouldn't kick us out of the tourney

just minimize bid stealers in conference tourney (excluding 1-bid leagues)...look at SEC, ACC, MW, maybe A-10, American (if Houston doesn't win) and MAC...need PSU to lose latertoday.

Fran McCaffery says yes. Frankly, he is insulted by the question. Throw out "the metrics", Rutgers passes "the eyeball test"! "That's an NCAA tournament team"

Connor McCaffery says I really don't give a ****.

I am a "what are the odds type of person"....

If you are in Vegas and picked all 3 of the teams to win, you get over 23-1 odds back on this happening.

Virginia Tech is the most likely of the 3 to win based on sports or point spread, but frankly, I think it's the least likely to happen.....

It was a good question because McCafferty response has relevance if NCAA Selection Committe members were watching.Rutgers is a bubble team because of the NET rankng and the only way they get a bid is bye looking at the totalty of the record .
Should have asked him if he is having dinner with Bo!

all 3 unlikely but this is just showing that worst case scenerio where rutgers loses all its cushion, if all 3 lose plus vcu loses tonight, it would be awesome

Was the double bye a bad thing? I guess we’ll see soon enough . I don’t think we make it and that is because no matter what happens the system is imperfect .There still is the human bias which in media is a big game changer.

I think we all tend to dwell on the bad parts of the Rutgers resume. The important thing is- is our resume better than the teams we are competing with for a bid? I think it is
Exactly
Not only did we beat 8 teams projected in field
We beat Purdue when they were number 1

I don’t think it was. If we were the five instead we’d have had a must win game against Northwestern. That game wouldn’t have really moved the needle if we won and would have been disastrous if we lost. And then we’d have had Iowa waiting for us in the next round anyway.

So true. Of all the teams on the bubble which ones have beaten more top teams than RU?

The committee knows that they will be hammered if they leave us out.

I just live in reality
I’m with you and others somewhat but the bad calls get magnified because we missed so many bunnies. Especially after we went up 15-5 and then they went on that run. We make those shots and the game is close all the way down to the wire and maybe the calls even out.

What I will agree with is there were some disparities and they should be looked at. We can’t really argue that Murray got phantom calls early to set the tone and Harper couldn’t buy a call on his takes to the hole. That happened but that happens. What I don’t agree with are the Technicals. That should be looked at closely. MaCafferry was chirping at Paul twice and the double T in both cases seemed wrong. Especially on Caleb who was just pointing out that he was chirping and the second be Paul said nothing and tried not to engage. Those were bad. Then calling not one but two T’s on the bench coach was a joke. He was chirping because they simply would NOT call fouls on Murray. The reversal on Murray was all I needed to see. Game over right there. The bench coach should not be standing and screaming but Bo is a dick and this needs to be looked at. Closely. Some of those calls and the last T seemed like he wanted to make sure Iowa covered. Or he is just a vindictive prick. Either way he needs to be looked at.

Also big kudos to Iowa. They’re playing great and were the better team yesterday. Just not by that margin.

Start blaming the refs. They dominated the game
It never ceases to amaze me the amount of people who refuse to acknowledge the effect of officiating and rely on old cliches.

Iowa was in the double bonus each half.
They outshot us by 15 foul shots. We lost by 10. It was the most important factor of the Game.
