This isn't the team Cal wanted when he was recruiting them. Its the team he ended up with.

@fisherscatfan @willievic

This is the best answer. Has nothing to do with the NBA or player's first crap.

Stop giving an excuse where one isnt needed.

NBA - Players First reasoning: Selfish offensively... ok

But what about he other 99 factors?

Bad on defense, fouling jump shooters, not blocking out, missing dunks and gimmies, poor ball handling, bad passes, terrible decision making, low IQ.

You think the NBA values any of these traits?

This bunch is simply not as talented or BBall intelligent as we would like.

This NBA/Players First excuse has ZERO to do with it, it's a lazy excuse, they just are not very good right now.

All true brian, but do most of them return and get better or do they move on and try to get better somewhere else.I think that is the issue with many posters

But why?

Our history suggest that EVERY freshman not guaranteed a 1st Round pick will return.

We only have 2 sophs - SKJ isnt going anywhere and until someone proves they myth of Wenyen living in a hut prior to UK he's most likely staying.

Many posters are panicing and just making up facts in their little heads.

This may be the year that breaks the trends but we have no reason to believe that these kids want to risk a 2nd round or UFA deal no more than any the previous 8 years.

Maybe (and I hope) you are right,if that turns out to be the case this core group will turn into fan favorites next year and that team will be very good.Right or wrong much of the fan reaction is rooted in the Diallo effect from last year,he made every attempt to leave for the NBA so fans project that onto every player on this team(leave at all costs) The only way to change that is for players to return. We don't know how that will play out,as you say history is on your side and I hope that means something

You and I usually see things pretty much alike but we were on different sides of the Diallo debate last year and for the early part of the year I thought many of my fears or questions about him were unfounded but as this year has worn on we are seeing more of what I expected

Don’t know where I said NBA anything other than I think Cal is loyal to a fault. I don’t care how good an athlete Hami is, he gets beat by much lessor athletes yet he keeps rolling him out there. Hami gets beat and looks at others. You can pick up on others body language towards him.

If the NBA comes in to play, it is Cal being loyal to those with NBA attributes where they get a much longer leash. Every kid who steps on a major D1 Court has NBA dreams. No UK player is different-at least I hope not. However when a kid who is getting abused on the court, fails to pass the ball, makes dumb charge after dumb charge, appears to pass blame on others and constantly talks back, he is not his brothers keeper and is not looking out for the best interests of the team. Regardless if he is the best athlete, until he gets it, he needs to watch.

The team will be ready to make a run in March. Show me teams who have not struggled except Nova, Purdue and Virginia. Three teams who never do anything in the NCAA tournament except when Nova caught lightening in a bottle a couple of years ago. You can’t look at UK’s problem in the vacuum- almost all of the top 25 teams have issues.

I have to go ahead and say that I was absolutely correct with the Diallo deal.

Cal made a deal for a top prospect that if he committed early he woudnt have to play.

Cal took the chance that had zero risk as we were not in on any others. Cal also knew Diallo's game.

Diallo was VERY VERY smart for trying to go to the league before playing. We all see now why he didnt play last year and he has exposed himself to be less of a basketball talent and more purely an athlete.

In the end Cal received exactly what he wanted, a highly ranked 2G that was able to practice a semester before his class.

As things played out you were correct Cal got what he wanted

We are very talented as individuals but not as a collective team. We don't seem to have the chemistry with this group the past teams have developed over the season. I love my wildcats and I always will but this group is a struggle to watch sometime. I used to go into games thinking no way were going to lose, now my confidence is very low in that area.
