Are the changes we saw today permanent?

I think they are. Cumbest in LF is a no brainer. I think hatch is out at first not just because of his slump but because we had to have a better D at third and needed james bat in the line up. So to keep Hancock also in the line up he had to go to 1B. I think it is the right move.

Agree. I think this lineup gives us the best hitting potential, as well as the chance to shore up 3rd base defensively.

Maybe not permanent but definitely the lineup for now and not just a platoon thing. This is the 9 you’ve gotta roll with until/unless somebody in this group goes into a major funk.

Don't see why we wouldn't roll with it until it stops working. Seems to be working fine so far.

Pretty sure Leggett will be playing 3rd here on out. And Mule will be in left. I think 1st base is still up for grabs.

We definitely saw an improvement in several batters this weekend. Happy to see that.

I like Skinner in the line-up, I wish there was a way for he and "Mule" to both be on the field. Maybe Skinner at first or DH? Skinner has speed on the bases and makes plays...

I like Skinner as well but he’s hitting .212. Gotta produce more if he wants to get back into the lineup.

The only problem with that is skinner has to get on base to use that speed and he hasn’t been able to do that.

The most relevant stat from all of this is zero errors in both Gm 1 and 2 on Saturday. Objective # 1 has to be getting James off the field witch should be written in stone at this point, and then it’s just pick your poison with the lineup.

As long as we don’t have Skinner and Hatcher in the lineup at the same time, I’m ok with pretty much any batting order. James just had to be the DH though

I see the concerns with James in the field and Skinner and Hatcher at the plate. And the job of Lemonis is to win games. But both Skinner and James want pro careers and ain’t no team gonna draft a guy to be a full time DH who is a .270 hitter with moderate power or an outfielder with speed who can’t get on base. Therefore, if this is the lineup going forward, don’t be surprised if one or both test the transfer portal. I hope not. Since the both have plenty of years left to improve their skills I think that would be a mistake, but this transfer portal is a scaring thing with some young guys who make hasty decisions.

Isn't Skinner a senior? Or does he get an extra year because of covid and 2020?

I mean no lineup is etched in stone and it’s on them to improve their shortcomings. It’s not really a Landon Jordan situation where they lose a spot because someone else can’t field a ball and make a throw.

I fully expect James to get back in the field but he has to be held accountable for errors on routine plays. Mostly just rushing throws off balance. Those are mental mistakes that you try to work thru and if that doesn’t work then get his attention with a defensive change for a bit. If he’s not committed and going out to get extra work in that area then he isn’t going to sniff the pros for long as a .270 hitter with moderate power thats good for a couple errors anyway. This is basically his freshman year in SEC play and I am certain he is quite committed to being the best he can be.

If Skinner were younger, I’d probably agree. You are limited on where he can play on the field and his obp isn’t good enough to justify sitting Hancock, James, or Cumbust at the moment. If he chooses to play a Covid Senior year somewhere else, I think that is understandable.

Permanent or not, this team has so many flaws outside the bullpen. We may get lucky and get out of our regional. we may get really lucky and get through a super, but if we get to Omaha, we get three games. Tops.
Starting pitching is not great. Hell, they can't get through 5 innings.
Opposing pitchers are not going to be intimidated by 2/3rds of our batting order and we still can't field worth a ****.
All that said, this team is fun to watch. May as well enjoy the short ride.
Let's get lucky.
