Are face masks, gloves, with Poncho's a solution?

Throwing this idea out there and see what the push back may be? There are plastic disposable ponchos that cover you from head to toe for rain, or Gallagher comedy events. If everyone was required to wear one at the football games and maybe it might work indoors too for basketball wouldn't that be a reasonable safety accomodation? I would think for outdoor football you would have to move day games to night games in warmer weather and indoors you need to blast the ac.

I know there may be a few a-holes in any crowd that decide they won't cooperate and either they are not allowed in or escorted out. It is not a perfect solution but it does seem like a reasonable accomodation.

Several of us discussing this today thought it would be interesting to see the responses. So blast away.

The problem with finding any solution is that it then gets outsourced to the dumbest, most selfish population in the history of humanity.

Sorry buddy. Thomas Jefferson didn't die in the civil war just for you to take away my right not to wear a poncho at commonwealth stadium.
identity politics could play the game of “rights” even better. if awkwardness is your thing.

btw the ideologies of identity politics are proven hubristic, with catastrophic results. the way things “were” in your perspective (i sense, being the up-to-date poster that you are) has 1 billion years of experience underneath it. you should consider that in your generation’s “renaissance” which is more simply a fact-less based political agenda. which you obviously don’t even realize. hence my interjection. we know more about why things are the way they are than many young people are schooled to understand is the problem. there are people 3,000 years older than jefferson that asked, articulated and documented the same questions we ask today. people aren’t smarter now, they cooperate against nature better. our success is because of that. not modern ideals. thousands and thousands of years of practice and cooperation against our own dark nature and against nature itself. the only separate narrative is gender which speaks less to the point. biological factors kept woman at home for most of history. notice i said “cooperation” with this understanding (which isn’t mine).

yet the ideology of identity politics is division, no matter which side you fall on. it’s a badly devised game. and the reason you get to be divisive and feel so free to stick it to the old order (in the little comments you make that i have seen over time), is because you are the productive of a divisive ideology that is suddenly rampant this century. it’s nothing to be proud of. if there is a difference in the way someone like me and you see things in general i’d say it’s history appreciation and knowledge of the game that matters most. staying alive. which godless, utopian societies know nothing about.

Ponchos won't do any good since the virus is inhaled more often than not. Also be advised that the masks you see everyone wearing won't do much either. Very few people have N95 masks. In fact it's nearly impossible to get a genuine N95 mask right now since they are all being reserved for those on the front line. The masks, including all the cloth masks, are at the rating to prevent you from inhaling dust. Not nearly good enough to stop the virus. The only value those masks have is that if you sneeze it will limit the distance the droplets will go out. So your mask is more preventing you from infecting someone else. It does nothing for inhaling.

It might be best if the people concerned about the virus and fearing for their safety at commonwealth stadium stayed home or wore a large clear tote over their heads at all times. Maybe one with a Cinchable closure.

Next step for stadium safety will be handled by the TSA with full strip and cavity searches and clear plastic garments.

While the N95 or higher rated masks are indeed superior for wearer protection, any mask is better than nothing. I read a study recently which found that the cheap, disposable surgical type masks provided the user with over 60% protection against the virus, while reducing the threat the wearer might have on others to nearly 100%. The cheap masks are actually more effective than we previously thought. And the reason for that is despite the actual virus particles being so small they are capable of penetrating most mask materials, those particles are attached to spittle which in droplet form is capable of being stopped by many types of masks. This is what the virus is transported in. They don't fly around on their own. Thus, any type of mask greatly reduces the risk for everyone involved, even the wearer.

Yeah just because they think YOUR idea is about as ignorant as it gets. UK can just return my money before I intend to set in the September heat wrapped in plastic with a useless mask suffocating me to death.

Exactly. Not a chance in hell Im gonna sit out there sweating my *** off for 4 quarters in a hot mask, much less adding a poncho on to it.

People have lost their goddamned minds.

WTF would a rain poncho or gloves do to protect again Covid-19? The virus isn’t absorbed through the skin.
I'm still trying to figure why wait over 4 mths into it and "try" to tell a person to wear masks.. That's like screwing a woman then putting a rubber on 3 weeks later.. It can get into you just as easily through your eyes as mouth and nose.. I won't wear a mask to begin with,, and I hoarded up 1000 back in early march because I saw what was coming.. 3/4 people don't wear them like they're supposed to be worn anyway.. I've already been tested and did have it in Feb as I suspected.. Called me yest from ky blood center.. Aggravating me to death to give plasma now.. May go next week and give em half pint to shut them up.. Higher risk getting killed in a car wreck than die from it.. I smoke A LOT of pot and drink shine.. Think that's why I never was that bad off.. Did take 10-12 days to get rid of it..

I went back and added lil how it was.. To me,, wasn't that bad.. Sore throat,, coughed a lot,, was 3 day stretch had zero energy and felt like a cow was sitting on my chest.. Phlegm that you could have laid bricks with.. I'm fully healthy with high immune system so wasn't all that bad.. I'd say it's pure hell on people that's unhealthy though..
