Are crawfish prices still high compared to normal?

I check in on prices in Louisiana in the spring to see how things are trending, and it seems like prices are $1-2/lbs more expensive than previous years. In the past, I've been able to get a sack of live up here in Atlanta for $3-4/lbs around this time of year. Seems like that is the price for live in LA/MS which is usually $1-2 cheaper than what it is up here due to transportation costs.

Is the price being affected by fuel/shipping costs, or is it a weather/quantity constraint?

I’m sure some can be attributed to transportation costs but some could be like a lot like other things and charging more “just because they can”.

Still high compared to where they normally are this time of year.
About $3.25- $3.80 live depending on where you live.
Use to be around $2.25-$2.95 this time of year.
The closer to the Gulf you are I think they’re cheaper ??

A&T crawfish in Pontotoc just went to $2.85 a lb for one sack, $ 2.75 a lb for two more.

Little Dooeys has live ones this Thursday for $2.75 lb
Although I didn’t think their boiled ones Thursday afternoon were real good.
Most were smaller and most were very hard shell.

Still high here in Louisiana. They are blaming transportation and inflation costs but I think they are keeping it high just to keep it high. The demand is crazy down here.

I don't know of any ex-state government higher ups who sell crawfish so I'm saying the answer is no. **

Harvest is slow. Water still too cold around Vicksburg.

I did just get notified that some places are now offering boiled 2.79 for 10 or more pounds. So it's going fine after that Easter rush. Might have over ordered.
