For a thousand dollars or less it's hard to beat PSA. One thing you have to take into consideration is the additional cost of an optic. A good one cost as much or more than an AR-15.

There are a lot of Anderson Ar's out there right now. They don't have the best reputation though. S & W sport 15 has a good reputation and a good name.

Look at the specs on the barrel and what kind of life you can expect. PSA has different quality of rifle barrels. Your budget was 1000. If you have a bigger budget I can give better recommendations. If that's as much as you want to spend then PSA is good. Study up on the different barrels. You can also look at the difference in their lowers. You don't have to buy what's on the shelf. They will build one for you. Good luck.

$1000 in the bank whatcha gonna do?

I have been busy. I will give you a few ideas. There's no wrong answers to your questions but if you want a thousand dollar rifle that performs well building it is always less expensive. If you have any experience with an AR it will be pretty easy. There are videos online for those who don't. I will include links. It will be a Frankenstein gun with average, above average and great parts. Be patient and I'll add links.

Palmetto State Armory and Anderson Arms sells complete uppers and lowers. Simply buy them separate and you can save a couple hundred dollars. It's a good quality gun that will serve you well. You can add a better trigger, BCG, and charging handle and still be under 800 dollars.

Second option visit Areo website. Buy a striped lower and complete upper. Visit magpul and get their complete stock kit. Then go to the Geiselle and order their lower receiver kit. I will give a link. Then pick out one of their triggers that you would like best.

The Geiselle trigger and lower receiver kit will make whatever build you decide mo better.

Standby for links.

Single stage vs two stage. I would recommend Single stage for the less experienced.

These are the barrels that are in the complete uppers. Double check before purchasing.

Magpul kits

Another good trigger option.

BCG and charging handle options

I appreciate the links. I've been watching a local online sight and a guy has a PSA 5.56 & an Aero lower PSA upper 300 black out for $1100 total. Might not be able to pass that deal up.

Trigger, Barrel, Bcg, upper receiver are your most important parts. You can buy a cheap lower receiver. Spend your money on those parts. 1100 is not a good deal.

What length 300 blackout do you want. 7.5, 10, or 16? Let me know and I'll walk you through this where you get a good final product.

I gave you a few more links where you can get the same gun for nearly half of 1100. We could build you a really good gun for 1100 with the parts I listed above.

I am very happy with my Sig 400 tread with added Romeo 5 red dot. Nice little range gun. I hope to get a Vortex magnifier one of these days. If I had to complain it would be the narrow feeling hand guards and the annoying "ping" sound from the vibrating flash suppressor at each shot. But I love it anyway!

It would be a better gun if you replaced all the sig parts with geiselle parts. 😉 jk Sig makes good guns. It should serve you well for a long time if you take care of it. If you ever decide to build one take a look a the Aero and Geiselle parts I posted above. You can build a 2000 dollar gun performance wise for around thousand if you shop around. For those not familiar with the 6.5 grendel caliber vs 5.56/223 wylde check it out. You get better performance without having to build an AR 10.

Another option that will cost more than 1000 but will allow you to get a 2500+ gun for less is to order an upper from one of these companies. Buy a stripped lower from one. Then order the Geiselle lower parts kit and magpul kit then assemble. If you go with a barrel length less than 16 then make sure you get the brace.
  • Bravo Company (BCM)
  • Colt
  • Daniel Defense (DD)
  • Larue
  • Lewis Machine & Tool (LMT)
  • LWRC
  • Noveske
  • Yankee Hill Machine

It's everywhere...

PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT LEAD TIMES ARE CURRENTLY EXTENDED DUE TO VERY HIGH DEMAND
THE CURRENT ETA IS 10-12 WEEKS

Yep. Starting now means you are way behind. 223 wylde would probably be a good start for those that only have a slingshot.

Yeah, I'm just stocking ammo at this point. I've got what I need.

If one stocked up years ago they could sell it for double on on Gunbroker. I own several nice 22lr in bolt action, ar platform, and pistol. I let family and friends practice with it then at the end I let them shoot the other guns with a magazine or two.

Ambi lowers are expensive. :frown:

Start with a PSA, Aero or Anderson striped receiver. Put ambi parts on it if that is important to you. There are several companies that sell them at decent prices. It won't be that much if you assemble it yourself. It won't be completely ambi but that's overated anyway.

I just figured if I was going to build from scratch I'd build a lefty friendly firearm since I'm a lefty.
