top 5:

1 UK
2 Villanova
3 UNC
4 IU
5 KU

I'd have UNC 4th. Barring a loss by any, those will probably be the top 4 in the AP poll next week. But never rule Duke out even with the loss. They were down 3 guys, and still almost beat KU. The big surprise to me is Villanova. They lost a lot, but still have a legit shot at defending their title.

They only make rankings based on real wins, not assertions.

If Kentucky and Indiana played tomorrow, would it REALLY be all that shocking if Indiana won? It wasn't last year.
It would be really shockink if IU ever won a national title again, wouldn't it?

Duke will not fall out of the top five.
And they shouldn't. It's not like they got blown out. KU has top 5 talent, they are better than what they showed last Friday night against IU. Duke, minus 3 of their best players, had a legit shot to win that game last night. And KU needed that win badly IMO.

Clowns like Goodman are the reason that ESPN is going down in flames. They all talk crap that can never be proven and act like they know anything about a sport that they can't even attempt to play, let alone understand. Like UK and IU are going to play once this year, let alone ten times. All of this conjecture just makes the talking heads look like the idiots that they have proven that they are.

UK defense caused them to stink it up. They didn't look this bad vs the other ranked team they played (Arizona) and that was their first game of the season so they were still getting the cobwebs out.

I do think KU is much better than MSU right now which isn't debatable and has argueabley the best back court in the nation. The other side of the argument is UK backcourt and the great thing is the arguement will be settled soon
Or if you're NBC, Duke's backcourt is in the conversation as the best in the country as well. :grimace:

Do you have major basketball writers in your Twitter feed? Ask them if they'd be shocked if Indiana were to beat Kentucky. I'll bet not a single one would say so.

Did you watch the pregame show on ESPN last night? They wouldn't be amazed, either.
Oh. If someone said it on a pregame show, I'm all in.[eyeroll]

People like to be cute.

The obvious move is to make the team ranked #2 that beat a top 15 team up to #1.
But that's boring and not cute.

IU beat a good Kansas team. That Kansas team then beat a hurt Duke team.
I'm not going to say since Kansas beat Duke, and IU beat Kansas, IU is really really good. It doesn't work that way.

I think all 3 teams are good.

I think that UK is the clear cut #1.
I honestly don't understand why our fans give a damn who is ranked #1 in mid-November. I suppose I can see why it would matter to teenagers. But anyone who has followed college basketball for a couple of years must know that the #1 ranking will change hands a number of times, and doesn't have a tremendous amount of significance until we actually get to the time in February and March when NCAAT seeds are earned. This win over MSU is a quality win, and some of these other teams have also posted quality wins. In the 1st week of March, all the quality wins will be tallied by the NCAAT Selection Committee. Prior to then, arguing with IU and Kansas fans is for saps with nothing better to do. But I will just say this much. So far, our team hasn't even scratched the surface. Once Bam and our other bigs get comfortable with the accelerated pace of play being dictated by Briscoe, Monk, and Fox, this is going to be a monster team.

I care about the rankings, I think it helps recruiting and shines a bright light 0n UK's program.
Also, that #1 spot doesn't always change hands a bunch throughout the season. See 2014/15.

Lol. IU and UK fans arguing over who is #1. It isn't March yet guys. Let the season play out.
