Embarrassing.
11-8 Kansas at #5. Unbelievable.
Oh,we have most assuredly earned being outside the top 25Perfectly reasonable. UL has better wins than we do, especially away from home.
Our ranking is (pardon the expression) earned not given - we haven't earned anything.
Couldn't care less - it should make these kids and our coaching staff do some thinking. As for teams like Kansas being #5 - how on earth do some of these teams get this kind of love from media? That's stupid on its face - and no one blinks an eye?
They won at West Virginia. That helps.Couldn't care less - it should make these kids and our coaching staff do some thinking. As for teams like Kansas being #5 - how on earth do some of these teams get this kind of love from media? That's stupid on its face - and no one blinks an eye?
All I care about is making the tourney
No one in the country expected this team to drop out of the top 25 when the year started. If someone says they did, they are lying. I think everyone expected some losses (4-8 from what many were predicting on here). This is the first time we have fallen out of the top 25 since March 2014. No reason this team should not be in the top 25 with the players we have. I put a lot of that on coaching. I fully expect this team to click sooner rather than later (at least that is what I am hoping). They have the talent to make a run at this thing come March/April. I am staying optimistic. How is this embarrassing? We all expected it. Plus, it doesn’t matter where you are ranked through the year until the final poll. Let our guys get it together and worry about a ranking later. Maybe this will be the one thing to give them a wake up call.
Hate to have my house riding on this.Have to beat West Virginia at Deliverance Arena
That's like, several points.A couple of points:
1. We deserve it.
This is NOT a Top 25 team right now. Could we be again? Easily. But our guys have to step it up and play to potential. This team has the potential to be Top Ten if not Top Five. They just have to figure this out.
2. We’re not done yet.
The season isn’t over. I’ll be the first to admit I was NOT a happy camper for most of the 2nd half Sat. But who would be? That was hard to watch. Lack of effort; lack of offensive production. Defense was actually ok for most of the game. Plus we were just coming off a bad loss at USCjr. We were all hoping to see them come out and smash. And they did for a little while. Not sure what happens in these little let downs. BUT.
The season is not over. Pick up a couple of good wins this week and we will see where we are at. We have to beat MSU Tuesday. Game is a must win.
3. If healthy, anything can happen in March.
We all know this of Cal’s teams. I remember watching the 2014 team where we got in on an 8 seed and none of us felt really good about it. I mean. The first thing that happened was we got two free throws to start the game because of a technical on KSU. Aaron Harrison, with no pressure I might add, nearly airballs the first one. It was a bad omen. That thing barely got to the front of the rim. But. We all remember how that run went.
If we’re in the tournament....anything can happen
This week is pretty much going to be the season defined. If we come out with a lot of fight and beat MSU and hang tough/win at WVU. We will be fine. If we lose two more in a row it could be devastating for this team.
Agree 100%!Perfectly reasonable. UL has better wins than we do, especially away from home.

Glad to know we've become vanderbilt university where just making the tournament is our expectations
Not really. I have just seen through the years that even when we get a #1 seed they provide us with a route to the FF that’s no easier than that of an 8 seed. So I have quit getting all crestfallen after every regular season game. Sorry...I guess I’m getting old...or just wiser.Glad to know we've become vanderbilt university where just making the tournament is our expectations
Not happening gonna be squealing like a pig!Have to beat West Virginia at Deliverance Arena
How is Wichita St. ranked so high? Didn’t they lose twice this past week too, and not to the good ones?
I believe he is factoring in the “Schwaggy adjustment factor” where, through what I am sure is a very thorough analysis of the data, he determines what the “true” outcome of a game should have been. I believe he basically takes any close outcome, points to a bad call, and officially declares that the game’s outcome should be different if it weren’t for that. He then states this as fact for some reason, as if everyone else agrees and won’t be confused by it.Kansas is 16-3
