Don't know why it took me so long to share this with the board. Just got busy I guess. In late April/early May, my wife and I went to Germany to see our granddaughter. She's with her army husband in Vilseck, about 40 miles east of Nuremburg. She took us to a beautiful medieval walled city named Rothenburg. We were in a gift shop owned by a charming Frau in her early eighties. She spoke pretty good English, but with a heavy German accent. She asked where we were from and I told her Ohio. She then proceeded to tell us all about her trip to the states in great detail. She told about going down I 71 to Columbus, then down I 75 to Cincinnati. Then about going into Kentucky and taking I 64 to Louisville. She had it all down, Then she said they went east on 64 to Huntington and Charleston, then on to DC. I told her that although I live in Ohio, I was born in WV and would never consider myself anything other than a West Virginian. Again in her thick accent she said " I don't blame you. It's beautiful. It was my favorite place on our trip." Then what does she do next? She starts singing, "Take me home, country roads, to da place I belong Vest Virginia, mountain mama--". Needless to say we were all floored. Next to seeing our granddaughter it was one of the highlights of our trip. Also saw at least half a dozen flying WVs on cars in the PX parking lot.
