I have not but have briefly looked into it. My understanding is you pay $20 for unlimited talk & text, & $10/gig up to 6 and after 6 it's free? What about the phones?

Judging by how glitchy the google app on iPhone is I damn sure wouldn’t use my iPhone on it. Sounds like an easy way to make a bunch of people buy android phones.

I have heard the coverage isn't really good yet.. I would think a year or 2 it will be much better.

And ultimately, that’s what matters most. Whether it’s TV, internet, or cell service, nobody gives a damn about their monthly bill savings when their service keeps dropping

I thought Google Fi was a virtual network, using excess bandwidth on the major carriers. So coverage wouldn't be an issue. Am I wrong?

I'm using Red Pocket virtual network. Unlimited talk and text and 5 Gigs of data for $30/month.

That doesn't seem like a great price? Seems like if you use any data, you can do just as well on a discount provider like Cricket or Total Wireless.

It's scary the US will be buying most of it's 5G network infrastucture from China (Huawei).

It’s a meaningless symbol on your phone unless you are in a large metro area like Atlanta or Nashville. Central Mississippi shows 5G and I know we barely even have 4G service.

Here’s a map that shows current 5G coverage

The blue dots are AT&T. That green dot in Gulfport is CSpire

I just paid $800 for an iPhone Plus a year or so ago, so I'm going to stick with it. It's fast enough and does all I need it to do. Of course, it'll probably become obsolete and unusuable at some point.

I had Google FI for about a year and a half. I loved it. Switched from AT&T. I had a similar amount of dropped calls (5-10 per week around rush hour a few miles from downtown Dallas.) I loved the savings. Google and my cable company had so many hotspots around town, I rarely used mobile data and regularly used my phone as a hotspot. Bill averaged about $35 per month. I bought my phone for $150 (Nexus 5x.) I bragged all the the time about my savings.... Until it happened.

My phone **** the bed out of nowhere a few days before Christmas. Would not cut on at all. No store for help. No backups. Nothing. I used a friend's phone to call in to Google, because that's the only way to get a new phone or sim card with Fi. And since it was around Christmas, it would be a week before I could get a new phone. I immediately went to Verizon, got a new pixel for $200 bucks, $75/month unlimited plan and never looked back. No dropped calls ever. Battery drains faster, but otherwise everything is better with Verizon vs Fi and ATT..

Fi Network was weak in rural areas too. Be warned about the lack of stores... Nice thing about ATT, Verizon, Sprint, and even TMobile is they are everywhere and you can get a backup ASAP. I would get a prepaid ATT, Verizon, or Sprint before considering Fi again.
