Anyone seen West Point play?

This. And a continuing flow of genes passed down to offspring that never seems to dry up like it seems it has in the South Panola feeder communities of Pope and Courtland.
Most consistently dominant programs have strong PeeWee and Jr high leagues (and take it seriously). You'd be surprised how blasé most schools are about Jr high football, but the good high school programs focus on development in those years. West Point is one of those schools that does just that.

Point City is the best team in the state of Mississippi due to a local population that dines on Bryan Juicy Jumbos and pisses excellence. People from Point City are naturally athletically gifted, always punctual and often smell good. I once farted in West Point and it immediately turned into a white dove that flew skyward into the sun.
Also, talent. West Point always has a good team (8 state titles) but this is a rare occurrence where the bulk of the talent is all concentrated into one class, giving West Point a senior class that is as dominant as we've ever had. Plus, Marcus Murphy is the best player in the state.

You couldn’t be more correct. Too many programs in the state view middle school programs as a nuisance and throw anyone out there to coach it.
I tend to agree with the great Bud Bowen that Marcus would be best used on offense with the ball in his hands.

Brandon, you similarly described Pearl this year, as far as so much Senior talent. I do believe West Point is the better team, simply because they seem more efficient on offense than Pearl, but if both teams were to run the table, it would be nice to have that plus one game. I think West Point has the easier road to run the table though. But I think Pearl's competition is within their own Region.

I guess we will see if Region 1 is up to the task. I still think both Starkville and Tupelo will struggle to get by Northwest Rankin and Madison Central or Warren Central. And Pearl beat all three of those teams. Pearl' offensive inefficiencies have come because of the 3 sophomores starting on the offensive line. The other 8 starters are seniors and the backup RB and backup receivers are 3 seniors and a junior. As I said, West Point is probably the best in the state this year, but I don't think Tupelo and Starkville are better than the Central Miss. 6A teams.

Madison May be a different story. I'm not convinced Tupelo is all that either. Starkville is capable of winning it all, but so are others. No one in 6A is standing out as much as West Point is in 5A. Should be a great 6A finish to the season.

Starkville beat the brakes off NWR. We made that trip to support the Cougars (not black panthers) and proceeded to witness a prison rape of my kids beloved school.
Well we don’t have either one right now, so I’ll take him at either spot as the coaching staff sees fit.
A little off topic and I should know this, but for those from Point city, How did they come up with the name of the town? Heck, it is on the east side of the state. Was the founder an army cadet? Was there a town just to the right called East point that nobody wanted to live in, so they all moved west and it went away. What is the history of Point city?
When it was founded a long long time ago, it was actually in the western part of Colfax County. They redid the lines and it now sits in the eastern part of Clay County.

Back in the early 2000s there was a commitment made to the Junior High programs. We ran the same offense and defense the high school did and had coaches that were committed basically to that team. When we got to high school there was no learning curve, and we ran the offense really well. Even simple offenses can be effective if they are run well.
I referee football now and I see Junior High teams that are awful with no fundamentals and then Junior High teams that are pretty good that focus on fundamentals and getting the hang of the offense and defense; those schools generally have good High School programs.
This could definitely be correct but I recall being told something along the lines of it actually being the NW point of maybe the original Florida territory boundary??? Could be 100% wrong on that...
This has a lot of truth to it from my experience, both in MS and TX. My hometown team Smithville started really paying attention to the Jr. High and implementing the offensive and defensive philosophies in the younger players so they only had to spend time on game prep and player development by the time they got to high school. They already knew the plays and formations.
Here in Texas, the high school coaches spend a lot of time with the players and coaches in their feeder middle schools.
The old Colfax County was created out of parts of Chickasaw, Oktibbeha, Lowndes, and Monroe counties in the 1870s which was well after West Point was founded. Colfax and Clay counties are the same county with a name change. I don't know about the name West Point, but the city was in the western part of Lowndes County before it became part of the new Colfax County.
