Has anyone on the board or immediate family member tested positive for covid ? Forgive me if I missed the thread. Wife's a nurse and tested late last week. Got the positive (meaning not good) result today. I'm sure it's already brewing in my system. She had a bad headache that wouldn't go away for several days and finally hit a temp around 99.8 so she was tested. We are both under 40 and healthy. She's had no breathing problems felt good enough to help me do some flower bed work most of yesterday afternoon ....and she put on one heck of a house cleaning / de-clutter job today. Hopefully we don't see much negative physical effect and survive a lot of togetherness next 14 days at home. I've been working from home 6 weeks now but it's going to be different not being just me and the dogs. Wondering if anyone else has contracted it and made it through relatively unscathed.

Sorry to hear the news. I hope everything turns out well for y’all.

Answering your question, DogStuckAtUM & his wife tested positive last month.

Here’s his thread: Link.

My first cousin tested positive. She's around 50 and is a pretty heavy smoker, RARELY drinks, and is technically overweight. So in other words she's in pretty good health overall. Her symptoms were the same: started with a bad headache and then mild fever, but she has pretty much rode them out and has been feeling fine.

My niece, sister in law, and her husband. Niece never got really sick. Sister in law got pretty sick, but stayed home. Her husband spent 2 weeks at the hospital.

He had a pretty big health scare a couple years ago. Since then he eats a lot healthier and exercises regularly.

Is seems to me that that biggest underlying conditions that are connected to more serious symptoms and the deaths, other than older age, is obesity, lung disease and type 2 diabetes(uncontrolled) which usually correlates to HTN and heart disease.

Glad you and wife are doing OK. I think like many, if I knew for a fact I could get and feel no worse than your wife is, I would beg for it!

My Daughter in New Orleans tested positive after two days of a low grade fever ..not sure if she got it at Mardi Gras with her Krewe or at the hospital when she had to have an emergency appendectomy.

My best friend tested positive after a week in Vegas in late February..he was down for a day with fever and then was ok ..

I'm not particularly worried or expecting worst case scenario. Honestly, I figured she (and probably me) would get it eventually once they started getting confirmed patients. To your point Bucky Dog, I'm kind of the same way. I'll be glad to go ahead and contract / build antibodies if we know it will be mild symptoms.

Best thing that could happen is you catch it, have mild symptoms and get past it.

I'm asking the doctor for a referral today...have had all the symptoms for 10 days or so...really don't feel that bad. In basically good underlying health but at age 65 I'm technically in the vulnerable zone.

At this point I think I'm hoping for a positive test result....meaning that I do have it.

My cousin died from it. He was in great health even if he was in his early 70's. He never smoked, had any underlying disease and still worked everyday on his farm. His wife survived and so did his sister after they tested positive.

I had a golfing buddy contract and was put on a ventilator. He made it out but is still in bad shape.

I was tested, came out negative but I had pneumonia and have been at home recovering for the past two weeks. Kind of odd to get pneumonia out of the blue like that. I want the anti-body test at some point.

This stuff is real to me.

I'll let you know tomorrow

TL:DR - my household is likely on the backend of clearing it out with little to no symptoms.

I got tested this morning - results back tonight or tomorrow. Wife is in healthcare and took two tests as part of a validation. She's asymptomatic and came back inconclusive twice. The state views that as a positive so she's on the bench now and can't go to work until she tests negative.

I've had a dry cough for 2 weeks (I've chalked that up to allergies) and some days feel lethargic (chalked that up to cabin fever and not moving around as much), but I feel pretty confident I'll be positive unless I have completely cleared it by now. The dry cough isn't really explained away now after sharing a bed with a positive result.

Glad we've done a good job at isolating well. Our street has looked like a block party the last 3 weeks. , but we have abstained. We just do yard work instead. The neighbors think we are dumb, but YOU'RE 17'ING WELCOME. We have also worn masks when venturing out for essentials since the first inconclusive test as well so hopefully have not spread it to others. As of the 2nd inconclusive we are officially quarantined and can't leave our property.

If you want an example of how easy it is to pick it up, just look at our household. If you get it, the odds are definitely on your side of not getting very Ill, but it's also likely you are going to be walking around for 2-3 weeks carrying a virus you have no idea you are carrying. Our testing only happened by chance - we certainly had no reason to seek it out.

Do what you have to do for your family. Lobby for "opening it back up". Get your essentials and work away from the house if you have to. All that's fine. Just please wear a mask and keep some distance when doing it. Assume you have it. Your sweet grandmother gets it instead and you're going to wish you'd been a little more cautious.

I tested positive and before I received my test results I was admitted to the hospital due to extreme shortness of breath and fluid in my lungs. The X-rays showed signs of pneumonia and after several rounds of IV antibiotics I was discharged 3 days later after my DO levels stabilized. I'm under 40 with no serious health problems. Pay close attention to your lungs and breathing if you notice a significant change call your doctor ASAP. Overall it took me out of commission for 2 weeks but other than moving a little slower I'm basically back to normal. Surprisingly my wife has not shown any symptoms as of yet but I figure we have about another week before she is in the clear.

wife and i both tested negative. not sure if it was a false positive or the virus had technically already left and we have symptoms left over. I have had the symptoms minus fever for a long time. i may have had fever for a couple of days but not bad enough to be noticed. my thing has just been an irritable chest and bad cough for weeks. i had bronchitis back in february with worst infection i've ever had coughing up junk and it pretty much went away by end of february but then a dry cough and irritation came roaring back in mid-March. i've taken steroids and antibiotics from doctor and didn't much do anything for this dry cough and irritation that started in March after i had basically gotten over the first bronchitis. It could just be lingering bronchitis. but the cough and irritation sounds a lot like covid type cough. my doc was concerned that i hadn't shaken the cough and irritability after this long. had a little shortness of breath with this also getting winded with activities that i normally don't. he said he was going to refer me to specialist after the covid test came back negative. haven't heard from them. i imagine they are busy with bad covid cases. hasn't been bad enough to go in to hospital. just haven't shaken the cough or chest irritability. no clue if it was covid related but i never have issues with my chest or lungs

NY state about to launch a huge antibody testing survey this week. Should tell us a lot more about the number of asymptomatic and mild percentage of cases. I'm hoping the antibody test is going to be available to everyone soon - I was in DC in late February, came back and felt like crap for a few days, headache, exhaustion, but never spiked a fever. I'm hoping that was it and I'm on the other side, but I had no way to test then and no antibody test available in my area yet.

i'm hoping those will help a lot. although. i've read some reports saying you can't have any current symptoms for them to let you take that test for some of those tests they are putting out there for antibodies. i also read another article that some of those tests you have to be skeptical with since they are coming from China and aren't as reliable.

I have weekly virtual appointments with a doctor that is with the Baptist COVID-19 response team and I have asked about donating plasma. She told me that that they are waiting until there are reliable antibody tests available. The test out there right now do not confirm a 100% immunity and they are not recommending donation until the tests are available.

Just back from getting tested at MEA. They had plenty of tests available...if you show up with symptoms and you are in the right demographic, you're good to go. No referral needed.

I don't see how they'll be able to test 330M people, the entire population of the US.

Those that have had or currently have it, how fast was the onset of symptoms? Reason I ask is I’ve noticed a shortness of breath the last 4-5 hours, but no cough/fever or loss of taste/smell. Just wondering what y’all noticed first. My sister is a respitory therapist and has had about 10-15 covid patients losing a few of them, and I have been around her, although she recently tested negative.

Call your doctor first thing this morning. My symptoms hit me like a ton of bricks within 3 hours of feeling like I had a fever, I was out of commission with the major symptoms. I went from cutting the grass that morning to barely being able to get out of bed by 4 PM. The loss of smell and taste didn't start till after I had symptoms for several days.

I do appreciate it guys. I woke up and it was gone, even tried to cause myself to get short of breath with activity today and nothing. No other symptoms. Talked with my sister the respitory therapist, assured her if I had any further symptoms I would seek help ASAP. Of course I don’t enjoy going to the dr, but I’m not like a lot of guys that waits until they have no choice.
