I've had it for several years. Used it for a couple of service calls (dead battery each time) and it was OK. Also use it for hotel discounts, which is good when available. Mostly it's just a peace of mind type thing in case you break down or have a flat on the road.
Read the fine print if your main reason for joining is the tow coverage. The basic coverage may only tow you 5 miles then charge like $4.00 a mile over 5 miles. Premier coverage tows up to 200 miles and $4.00 mile over 200 miles. These #s may vary by state.
I’m like Rocket. Have it for peace of mind. Got it when my daughter went off to State. Came in handy when she was co-oping out of state. Battery was dead, AAA came out and installed a brand new one for her. Really helpful since Daddy was 8 hours away.
My office got mine when I travelled a bit. 4 or 5 hotel stays in a year will make it pay for itself. Not sure if the roadside assistance is any better than what you can probably get with your insurance. I did use it once for my daughter's keys got locked in her car. I had to go there though since the account was only in my name.
Lost a key once at a house on Dauphin Island. They refused a replacement. It only worked on one door and they had not had keys to the others in years.

We’ve had AAA for years-saved our asses several times. Peace of mind with my wife and my daughter traveling. Worth every penny we’ve paid over the years.
I can change flats and batteries with my eyes shut but that doesn’t help you when you’re in the middle of nowhere with a dead battery in a car with few tools. I don’t have AAA but I can see why people do have it.

Well not necessarily. It took a decision by the BBB arbitration folks to make Toyota buy back my 4 Runner they were unwilling to repair.
Slightly off topic but a company called Noco makes a battery booster pack that is money well spent. They make different sizes but the big one is only the size of a hardback book and claims the it will crank a 10 liter diesel. My MH has a 8.9 liter so I disconnected the two massive batteries that it has and tried it. This thing that might weigh five pounds and you can hold in one hand cranked that big Cummins five times and still had power to spare. It charges from you cell charger and a charge has lasted over a year before it needs recharging.
We had it for a while but dropped it a few years ago. The problem with the roadside service the few times we used it, for a lock out and one flat tire for my wife, it would take forever for the service company to get there. I found it was quicker to use google and call someone directly. Before having the internet in the palm of your hand AAA was a great peace of mind. If I had a daughter on the pay roll thru college no doubt I would have her enrolled.

I've got Allstate Roadside Assistance, covers myself, wife and 2 kids in our vehicles as well as if you are riding w/ someone else in their vehicle and call them. As several have said I got it because I got tired of getting calls telling me they were locked out, flat tire, dead battery etc when I was 2-6 hrs away. Wife blew a tire and they came and changed it about 45 minutes after she called (she was in middle of nowhere). 20 minutes down the road the spare blew. She used the Trip Interruption part of it to pay for hotel since it was about 7 at night and didn't have another spare.
I can do all that, but it’s still worth it to me to have somebody else changing that driver side tire while idiots on their phones get within 6 inches of them while going 70 mph.
I have never used AAA but you are making me reconsider what I do.
I rarely use hotels when I travel unless it's for business which I don't pay for anyway. We usually rent a VRBO or Air BNB in my personal travels so I wouldn't think the AAA discount would apply at those places.

Ive owned a toyota before and it had a battery and tires just like every other brand Ive had
You'll get a different picture if you talk to a muffler dealer and see just how many Toyota's they've had to replace the catalytic converter on in the last two years since scumbags figured out they could cut them off the cars and sell them for a couple hundred a pop.
MAN. It seems like the factory new batteries are good, but once it goes there aren't good replacements any more. Also seems like with the last few car batteries I've had, the first time it turns over a few times you better replace it right then cause it isn't cranking again. Twenty years ago, I'd ride around for weeks with a weak battery.
We had AAA back in the 90's. Twice in a year we had a blowout on the highway late at night and the service truck never showed. Needless to say we dropped them.
I've had it for 15 years or so. Yes, I can change my own flat and replace a battery, but like others have said, on an interstate or crazy busy road, having them assist even with hazard lights, cones, etc., and having every tool needed is well worth it. I use the hotel and restaurant discounts, too, the tow features are worth it to me. I've talked to tow truck drivers that are in the AAA network and theirs alone or as a primary network because AAA vets them and pays them on time and in full (generally speaking). Some of the other insurance-based towing can have a vastly smaller network of tow truck drivers, or they initiate situations where you get dinged for extras. I've lived the tale on this one.
By the way, I have the Plus version with AAA for me and the family that has up to 100 miles for towing (the Premier does 200 miles) and multiple such tows within a year. And I've had to use it about three times with significant enough distances to more than pay for 5-6 years of membership fees.

They are just easy. Doesn't matter where you are, you call the same number. And they seem to be more responsive than insurance provided roadside assistance, which I learned the hard way is not necessarily dependable.
State Farm roadside assistance was worthless when I had an alternator go out on Hwy 45 about half way between Waynesboro and Citronelle, AL. Estimated time of arrival of a tow truck was 6 hours and I wasn't sure that was going to happen. I caught a ride to Waynesboro and back to buy an alternator and installed it.
It's like insurance. If I don't have to use it, it's a good year.

Thanks everyone. I signed up. Wifey and I both are little "long in the tooth" to be traveling without any kind of safety net and the feedback seemed more positive than negative. If I screwed up it damn sure won't be the first time. Thanks again.
When my battery failed (it was in my Corvette, parked in my garage, and nothing on the car worked, so getting it outside without a running engine just wasn't going to happen) the AAA guy brought a battery pack and started it right up. It was a powerful device. The other time my battery just failed, no longer chargeable and he sold and installed a battery for less money than AutoZone and others had. It was a good battery.
I have one in every vehicle. Great bit of insurance for $50-$100. I also keep a Dewalt 20v battery powered air compressor in my truck too.
