Anyone ever use the programming language R?

If so, what's it like? I'm thinking of trying to learn it but it's so different than what I'm used to that it's daunting. Apparently you can do good things with it once you learn it though including making awesome graphs.

I've seen demonstrations. It reminds me of SAS language. Very mathematically powerful if that's what you need.
