I'm going this weekend for the game...just wondering what you thought of Williams-Brice and the tailgating...

TIA

Great town. IMO, the most underrated college town in the SEC. I wouldn't go this time around because the flooding has destroyed a lot of roads. It's going to be a mess this weekend. I have a coworker that has 5 foot of water in her house as I type this. And the water is still rising.

I don't care for off campus stadiums, but it's a good atmosphere in and outside the stadium. Lots of tailgating on the fairgrounds. Stadium looks like a dead cockroach on its back. Friendly fans and nice town. Ticket stub gets you in the door at Platinum Plus. Would go again.

I live about an hour and a half from there. Williams Brice is ok; never had a problem with their fans although my wife did some years ago. IMHO, tailgating there sucks; the stadium is off-campus and right in the middle of an industrial area. If you're looking for grassy areas with trees, forget it. Tailgating at fairgrouds adjacent to the stadium is better.
Be glad you aren't going in July or August - Columbia, SC is the hottest place on the face of the earth, bar none, in the Summer months.

I went in 2000. I loved Columbia but it's a weird setup b/c the stadium isn't on campus. It's at the state fairgrounds which makes it not feel like you are at a college game.

5 points was the place to go out if I remember correctly.

We had plans to go to a Semi up there with some girls we know that go to USC...but that doesn't seem like it will be happening now due to the flooding. Same goes for going out, I'm disappointed...I won't get many opportunities to mark USCjr off the list of SEC girls lol

Presently they are still trying to have the game at SC but there is talk of moving it to LSU if they can't.

If I am USC there is no way I would play that game in BR. Not that it would make a difference either way.

I think their first choice would be to play the game in Charlotte. But Tanner says BR "isn't outside the realm of possibility." In other words, if we can find a way to play it anywhere else, we will. But if there was no other place to play it, we'd suck it up and go to BR.

First of all, a natural disaster that has claimed many lives and displaced thousands of people from their homes should not be described as a "**** show". Yes, I live here and it's a great town. Please don't 17ing come. DS, HD, D@A. It's time for this 17er to be shown the door.

A lot has changed since 2000. Yes the stadium is off campus, but the area around the stadium has changed greatly. The farmers market has moved and they build a real nice area called Carolina Park I believe. Very nicely landscaped tailgating area with restrooms, landscaping, and an area for live music which is provided on game day. Lots of condos built in the area as well. They refinished the fair ground parking as well, which looks much better.
