He can play a 4 in this 21st century.

BTW, Arkansas is going to be a major problem. Putting money on them to win the SEC regular season.
I mean they barely beat a nobody at home on Tuesday and was down the majority of the game. It’s crazy how low people get here after a win.

Why? Calipari has managed to turn Toppin into Brooks. They are essentially the exact same player.
Cal hasn't turned Toppin into anything. Toppin simply isn't that good. Brooks wasn't that good. Collins isn't that good. Hopkins may be a little better. He should have stayed on the team and competed for the starting job.
Cal knows the 4 spot is a problem. That's why Livingston played more today. You guys wanted him to play more. He played and he wasn't much better than Toppin. The 4 spot will probably be a problem for this team all year.

We are always a player short because of people leaving early except in 2012 and 2015. This year we are like 3 players short.
Hell, they ain't got enough room as it is on the bench. Do you want Bruiser Flint to have to sit his *** in the 2nd row? I didn't think so. Wat if Coach Bruiser gets a wild crazy good idea and then can't get Cals attention because he shouting instructions to GO! And Bruiser is back there in 2nd row yelling YO!! 🤔

Seriously though, I don't think if you add 3 more players it makes any difference. I mean I guess that'd depend on who the players were. Ya Get 200 mins a game. Gotta make plays and ya got Cal on his show just said he been trying get Wheeler to shoot his layups. Hell, let's send a 5'8 guy to the basket like he Darius Miller. I don't know wat the hell I'm processing after I hear Cal talking Jimmies N Joe's. It is necessary for the PG to score a basket at times to keep the defense honest but we got the W today. I ain't mad at it today. I still wished he wouldn't be putting those ideas to shoot in Wheelers head though. 😳

100% this ^^^ for anyone who is objective in their evaluation. If one of them has the ability, he simply needs to step and play so damn well that it is obvious that he deserves the bulk of the minutes at the 4-spot. So far, nobody has come close to doing that, unfortunately.

Also, if Hopkins was still here, I doubt Livingston would be.

Wasn't much better than Toppin?

Toppin 31mins 4 pts
Livingston 14mins 7 pts

The 4 is a problem because of recruiting and Cal

I pushed like by mistake. Cal realizes recruiting is a problem. That's why he has changed his recruiting strategy. Livingston played pretty well today. He is not significantly better than Toppin who is more experienced. I'm sure that's why Toppin played more today.

At what point do you wonder why our players don't develop and what the common denominator is year after year? The 4 spot will continue to be a problem when they are all being coached to play like 3's and 2's to audition their NBA skills.

He is as good as Toppin right now. With more playing time and experience who knows what he could do.

A lot of the players do develop. That's why so many one-and-done players want to play for Kentucky. For example, look at how Oscar has developed playing for Cal compared to how he fared at West Virginia. I think that we will see much better play at the 4 next year with the type of talent that is coming to Kentucky.

I thought Toppin should have played over brooks last year. It's obvious now why he didn't. I thought Cal should have played Collins and Hopkins more last year. I see now why he didn't. Collins is a bust and Hopkins quit.

Brooks was better and is better than Toppin. He would have gotten some buckets when needed.
He would have made a tough bucket when it didn't matter, and then somehow airballed an alley oop when it came to crunch time in a win or lose situation

Yes for sure but looking solely at personnel…don’t care much about scores unless I have money on it. We’ll do very, very well to finish at 14-4 as I’ve seen some predicting!

Brooks sucked. Toppin not playing well but he will be find his groove eventually. Brooks only found it for a game or 2.
Brooks averaged almost 11 points per game on 49 % shooting. Toppin hasn't, and probably won't touch that level. Livingston, while not a true 4, will get those numbers if he plays more. I really think Thiero can be a factor but, I can be wrong on that one.

Ehhh. Hopkins was only 6’6”. And although I thought he had some good strength and skill. To be a 6’6” 4, you need some quickness and athleticism as well. Which he really lacked
Chuck Hayes says hello
Hayes was also was pretty good in the league

Could have gotten a transfer but ccc not smart enough to get a good forward or a good point guard. Toppin and Wheeler need to be guarding the water and not playing

Brooks getting that rebound taken from him like he was an 11-year-old kid at Arkansas was the last straw from me. I don’t care if Toppin shoots 15%, just never anything egregious as that.

Toppin has been a disappointment to me so far this season. I have seen some signs of moving in the right direction. He made plays down the stretch of the Michigan game and again today against Yale. Still, we need more from him, no doubt. He has to step up and become a real threat to go off for 14-15 points on any given night, and he's just not there.

I think the backup for him needs to be Livingston, who has shown he can hit the 3 and rebound pretty well also. It would also let us get Fredrick more time and allow us to get Reeves and Fredrick on the floor together.

Collins just isn't ready to contribute. When he comes in the game, I just sigh and shake my head. I hate it, too, because I feel for the guy with all he's been through.

Brooks is fn horrible!!
Why should we miss him?
Maybe because he was still better than Toppin has been?

Nobody’s saying Brooks was an ideal option, but he was better than what we’ve been getting so far from that 4 spot this season. Toppin’s been disappointing, and Collins has looked hopeless. We need to try something different at the 4 …and I hope that something different is Livingston.

Having a solid 4 has always been Calipari’s biggest fail. These wispy, slender guys that play the position stay out on the perimeter way too much. They don’t play defense and they barely rebound. That’s been the 4 position for many of the 13+ years he’s been here. Toppin just floats, he’s in and out, gets a lot of garbage points after the outcome has been decided. Todays game is a prime example of why this team won’t advance past the first weekend of the tourney. We cannot win anything playing the 5 he puts out there for 30-35 min a game. Wheeler is a point guard but he is not a championship point guard. Calipari is playing him so he can showcase whatever skills he’s supposed to have. He will never play in the NBA. Guys that could lead this team won’t get the playing time over guys out there showcasing for the future. Toppin will never play in the NBA. Oscar will get a shot but even he is not guaranteed to make it. It’s what Kentucky has become. A ******* training camp for prospective players. So sick and tired of watching better players not getting the PT. Can’t even stand to watch this ****, literally makes me puke.
