You gave the same hot take that all the UL fans are using today....... and then you are overly worried about something every school can get in trouble because.

If you are really a UK fan.. sorry but we've been dealing with a lot of UL fans who lost all hope and all they have to do now is try and stir things up in BBN

I do agree that Cal is under the microscope, and he knows he can't mess up again. You ever notice how Cal will just randomly stop recruiting a guy out of nowhere? Or not even try to recruit a top 5 guy? I bet those are th guys wanting money. Probably why we have had such classy top notch individuals come through this program under cal.

Went to the UL boards tonight. Half of their posts are the wonderful coaches they can get. (Stevens, Marshall, Mack, etc) The other half, is how giddy they are that UK is going to get into even bigger trouble than UL. LOL.

Last night they were pretty rationale. Tonight, they are back to delusion, and insanity.

So I'm an idiot for wondering if one of our many many recruits might have taken money under the table from nike? If you think about it from an averages standpoint, the fact that we have so many more top tier recruits every year just increases the odds...

No, you're an idiot (or perhaps just a loser) for taking the time to make an account on a rival team's board and post a baiting thread while pretending to be a UK fan.

It sounds like a lot of people are worried, because there's a lot of shooting from the hip going on.

First, this is not a litmus test of love or trust for Cal. Thus, saying that "if you trusted him before, why would you worry now" is beside the point. This is not about Cal. If it is about Cal, it is only about him to the extent he can ppolice every action the players and their families take while not in his presence.

Second, this is not about what the FBI might do. This is about the NCAA. Players who take bribes from anyone, including Adidas and Nike, are ineligible to play. How many times have we had the strict liability discussion? At least for UK, Memphis and much of the known universe (but not Duke), it doesn't matter whether UK knew or should have known about the impermissible benefit. Games played with ineligible players will be stricken from the record.

Third, this IS about how much you trust each and every one of our past and present players and each and every one of their family members. I don't even know their family members. Cam Newton's daddy got $$, but Auburn never got penalized. I wouldn't expect that treatment for UK.

Fourth, we just became aware of a new fact. There is at least one giant criminal organization out there trying to bribe players-- Adidas. Could there be two or more such organizations? That's a big fact. When I get a new fact on a weather forecast that there's going to be a snowstorm tomorrow, I adjust my thinking to that new fact and put the Bermudas and Jorts away.

Personally, I'm no more worried today than I was 5, 4 or 3 years ago. The families are a known risk, and always have been (as are the players). Camby anyone? While I'm not terribly concerned, I can certainly see how those who are more risk averse than I would be worried right now. It's perfectly understandable to me.

[I will say that if I were a fan of a school that runs a dirty program and has a lousy culture, like UNC for example, I'd be very worried.]

If our program was already on probation having just gone thru a scandal where our coaches had paid for hookers to service minors and their parents...then, got named in a FBI pay-to-play investigation...I might be nervous. LOL!

Truthfully though, I am a bit edgy about it all. Not because I think Cal would be involved in something like this, he has too much to lose. But, I could see a lower level assistant at just about any program falling prey to the enticement of free money.

I've often thought the same thing. I do think Cal works very hard to keep the program clean. I do think he controls everything he can control. You can't ask for more. Just foster a culture of honesty and compliance, and hope for the best. UNC, UL and some of the others seem like they couldn't care less about having a good culture.

I'm done arguing with your dumb ***. It's clear you are just an idiot who likes stirring things up. If I was a Louisville fan why in the hell would I be getting so angry about you calling me one

Not saying you are a troll, but it's rather trollish behavior as we've seen UL fans get feisty when they get outed, just like you did. You simply aren't thinking this through.

Even if the FBI found that Nike was stuffing players pockets, they are not compelled to share that with the NCAA, particularly if no laws were broken. In that case, the NCAA 'don't know what it don't know'. If there are criminal findings then that's a different matter, but we haven't exactly been struggling to get recruits. Only one of the few Cal hatin' fools would think this is even a slight risk. Why pay for less than you already have?

In short, if you are a KY fan, move along, nothing to see here. If a UL fan, go back to the crack pipe and try again later.

The FBI doesnt work with just the word of a rat... they need hard evidence to bring it to trial and thats what we saw come out on Tuesday

Not entirely true. I owned a small medical office in 2002 and a disgruntled former employee called the FBI and said "we were fraudulently billing the government". They showed up outta now where Men in Black style with about 5 mini vans full of agents one day and copied and confiscated every thing we had, just because of a "Rat". Local news channels all showed up,it was quite the experience. It took 9 years and almost 300k in legal fees but we beat the pants off of em. It was all lies.

Nothing, getting money under the table after you are in school or signing with an agent is an NCAA violation. It has nothing to do with Federal law

Which is exactly the point I'm making.

People seem to think the NCAA hired the FBI to go dig and find every violation any program has committed in the last three years or something. That isn't the case.

If no federal crimes were committed, nothing is coming to light on a school/coach.

The schools that will get in trouble with the NCAA will be a result of the FBI investigation catching them committing crimes that so happen to also be against NCAA rules. It doesn't work the other way around here.

We are literally turning down five star recruits due to being very selective about who fits within the program and the direction Cal is going, so why would we pay people? Yes, those recruits could be getting paid elsewhere under the table from agents and shoe representatives, but if Calipari knows nothing, then the penalties should reflect that. In short, Calipari can't control everything and there is a reason we A) pass on certain recruits, B) accept commitments from certain young men, and C) have become the chosen destination for young men aspiring to a productive NBA career.

Not nervous in the least. Cal knows he is a wanted man by the NCAA and other programs so he doesn't cheat . Also he has no need to as more top 20 guys want to be in blue andf white then not.

[not a UK fan disclaimer] Yeah I am nervous, but in a "You never truly know" kind of way. How many people, myself included, were convinced Lance Armstrong was completely clean only to ultimately find out he was literally the dirtiest guy in the room.
