Anyone considered that Auburn might be good?

Check my prediction, fair to say I saw this coming. On the road, at night, a fired up hungry opponent, meanwhile we are riddled with injury and suspension. Everything went wrong for us.

So many of you are operating from a "Moorhead is terrible" viewpoint from the beginning, that you're missing the big picture here. No one outside our fanbase though last night (or this whole year, or least year) has been all that unexpected.

There are things to fix but that's normal. That Auburn team will contend by the end of the year. Bo Nix wasn't missing receivers last night. They put it all together, like I expected they would.

For nearly two years all yall sunshine pumpers and affable pacifists continue to excuse complete horseshit coaching that we witness with our literal eyes and advocate for extended mercy. Why.

They are good. But once again we came out unfocused, unprepared, and sloppy. Tired of people trying to justify Moorhead not having his team ready to play. Maybe he gets it fixed but defending his performance last night is a joke.

Their first three possessions started at the State 30, the Auburn 48 and the State 18.

After that the game was essentially over and that had pretty much everything to do with Mississippi State, not Auburn.

We have faced 4 good sec teams on the road in the Moorhead era. The combined score is now 137-36

☝🏻This guy gets it.

And Auburn ain’t that damn good. Hell, Bama ain’t that damn good.

Look losing is and was expected. But looking like a JPS coached team wasn’t.

Because that's how you build programs. You support the team. At least for 3 years or so.

Absolutely, when you can see you have a quality coach who just needs time to build a program. We have pretty much the opposite right now and the longer he stays the farther the program will fall.

We had a quality program when he got here. If we let him destroy it, that's on us.

It didn’t need to be built

The program was as good as it ever has been when he took over. This isn’t the usual MState coaching change when the program is a straight dumpster fire. For the first time in 60 something years we had a coach hired away, and the program was in decent shape. I excused last year as “growing pains.” But what I have seen this year, with the cherry on top coming last night, is regression and tearing down what he inherited. The lack of preparation, ability to control emotions, and general effort have been awful

That's where you are wrong. For ONE YEAR it was. But depth was shaky as hell and I've been pointing that out for damn near 3 years. Mullen left us a good program is a fallacy, as far as the players.

As far as fans and support, yeah the program is in a great place (until we quit supporting it).

No ****. We didnt get beat. We got killed. Because our team continues to play its sloppy, unorginized brand of football. Most of us predicited a loss. But down 40 at the half?

You kinda gotta let that sink in...

8 pt underdogs and down 40 a few minutes into the 3rd.

Have you considered that auburn may be the greatest college football team of all time and KSU is top 10?

They lose next week. They lose to Georgia, LSU and Bama. Probably blown out in those games. We not only did a disservice to our program and our fans and everybody that cares about MSU yesterday, but we did a disservice to Auburn by allowing them to continue to believe they are better than they are.

And it only took two seasons removed from the peak of all Mississippi State athletic heights for the coach who would soon be hired away to have us at 5-7, blocking an extra point to stave off the might Redhawks (not really sure on that one) of Miami (OH). For 95% of the sport this **** is cyclical. And when it’s ugly it’s real ugly. Auburn fans probably though the end was near when they couldn’t get 100 yards on the road vs. us las year. The LSU boards were probably ready to tar and feather Orgeron when he got spanked in 2017.

All that aside, we have some of the most reactionary and hysterical fans in the country. Moorhead might not be the guy, and if he will get let go but the next guy will have his fatal flaw that will make everyone here apoplectic on a weekly basis. Just like Joe, just like Dan, just like Jackie, just like howland, just like Stansbury, just like Cohen, just like lemonis.

Auburn being good or not has no bearing on my feelings about the game.

I'm more worried about how bad we are

They might be good but they aren't as good as the score indicated last night. That score was indicative of how unprepared and apathetic we were last night.

Hard to beat good SEC teams on the road. Hard to even beat average SEC teams on the road.

There is beating them and competing with them. Two very different things.

I get that you aren’t a big thinker and you live in the short term, from one scene name to the next. But surely you know the difference.

Auburn is a pretty good team. Not great. We suck. The sad thing is our inconsistency. They aren't that much better than Kentucky. We spotted them 21. Looked like a high school team. Pathetic

That score also indicative of how bad our coaching is/was. Not just offense but defense. And strength/conditioning coach. Let them score 21 points in 1st quarter. Pitiful!

I knew you would be back on here defending horse **** and calling other people’s opinions dumb.

I do think auburn is a good football team. Maybe not great though.

But the **** we continue to see is inexcusable.

It was well over in the 1st held. They could have hung 80 or more on us.

If what all you sunshine pumpers say is true and that Moorhead is taking us to the next step we shouldn’t look like horseshit and getting our asses handed to us. That’s going backwards.

How the hell do we keep getting delay of game penalties over and over again. Stupid **** after the whistle. Totally Unprepared.

The culture Moorhead is building is a loser culture and that explains why you like him so much.

Bragging about being right when you picked the team at home and ranked top10?
Wow, way to go out on a limb with that prediction.

Did you "expect" us to call a time out before the first play? Did you expect us to call another one 2 plays later? Did you expect the personal foul penalties, the dropped balls? Did you expect the loss at home to KState w/ a first year coach against our 2nd year offensive genius? Did you expect Auburn to score 21 points in 8 plays? Tell us more of what you expect the rest of the season?

Look, I’m one of the Mr. Optimistic’s around here but that first quarter was completely inexcusable. I’m ok getting beat by a better team but that’s the 5th time Joe’s taken this show on the road and it was utterly horrific.

Auburn is a good team, yes, but our performance had less to do with Auburn than it did with Mississippi State.

The pre-snap penalties, penalties after the play, defensive backs not knowing what the defensive call is and standing there looking at the sideline with their hands in the air while the ball is being snapped, that’s all coaching, guys. All I can figure is that the players pay no price for the lack of execution. There are no stakes, and if there are they are not effective.

How do we not have a BIG package from under center to use on 4th and short or when we’re on the 6 inch line? That burned us last year and we did nothing to fix it? That’s coaching. Even if it fails it at least shows they addressed the need. We got nada.

At this point the results are the results. Put aside any predispositions and rewatch that game. That’s the product we’re getting for our $275,000 a month.

It has to improve or it has to change. I’d be fired from my job for that performance.

What would we as fans do if our baseball team looked like that for every SEC road series?

They’re good, but them being good didn’t cause us to have a delay of game before the first snap and multiple personal fouls, or drop multiple big passes, or fumble a kickoff. The 21-0 deficit was totally our own doing, and it’s inexcusable. We did play better after that but were still outscored 35-23 the rest of the way.

Them simply being good can explain a 10-20 point loss. It doesn’t tell the whole story of what happened last night. We should never in a million years have lost that game by 40. That is on our own self destruction.

I’ve seen many people mention 49-10 in 2017 to justify this. That was unacceptable too, it got forgotten over time and after we ended up having a mostly good season, but we shouldn’t have gotten crushed by them two years ago either. It was ridiculous then, it’s ridiculous now. Both are awful, the difference is Mullen had a bunch of goodwill built up before then that Joe doesn’t have.

Without a doubt, you’re last name is Moorhead. Auburn has a great defense for sure but they are nothing special.

As i’ve seen it I don’t think the 17 game is an attempt to just make this loss acceptable but to just try to calm some of the “we haven’t been this bad in a millennia and if we don’t fire him now it will be Barron Trump’s third term as pres before we recover” hysterics.

Well I will say, I had to listen to the first quarter on the radio, so I didn’t ‘see’ it. Maybe that’s a big part of it.

I always think that Auburn might be pretty good each season and have long considered them to be our benchmark. If we win or play well in a loss to them, then we’ll be a competitive team.

That said, I didn’t really know what to expect out of Auburn until a friend of mine who I consider to be pretty realistic, intelligent, and who happens to be a longtime Auburn fan and alumnus told me a month and a half ago that Malzahn appeared to look pretty confident when he saw him a few days previously & I took that to mean that the Tigers are going to surprise some folks.
