I'd add not finishing the job in 2015 as another factor. Cal would have been king with that under his belt. Not only did we not take the title, Duke ended up winning it. Double whammy.
I think it would have helped recruiting insanely if we’d won that year. Who wouldn’t want to play for a coach who just accomplished the “impossible”?

Losing, I tend to agree with you that it probably hurt our recruiting. I’m never quite sure how much. But I’ll give you that it also exactly matches the timetable we’re talking about. So maybe it really did hurt a lot.

The problem isn't that is that Cal recruiting class rank as he is always getting a top 2 class (last top class was five years ago). It is the mix of players that is in that class - the last five classes have not done what all of BBN expects - championship games and championships.

that maybe we have some of our own players recruiting agisnt Cal? I was just thinkin and I know I’m not the best at this but it almost seems like Cal has something not good going on inside with former players or something. Like some bigs not happy with how things worked out and secretly talking to players about things they don’t like, like maybe Cal telling them they can dribble and stuff when recruiting them but not letting them win the game starts?

Your profile says your 34 but sometimes it seems like you are 14. Are you F@cking with us?

Im not even a UK fan and this is a wild *** statement. No almost all players love Cal, even the ones that he left in Memphis.
Not trying to bash or anything l, but if you are not a UK fan why are u on a UK BOARD responding about a UK THING?

True. And also, the Kentucky Effect means our classes are bigger than everybody else's. So that's going into those top 2 class rankings. Not that we aren't still getting good kids outside the top 5. But if we'd been pulling in 3-4 kids every year instead of 5-7 kids every year, I have a feeling we'd have top 5 recruiting hauls maybe, but not top 2.

I’d kill to have umm back. That man was a national treasure
Hey, he is no Nick Cage
If only RP would have got that higher seed...iirc, wasn’t that his “posting privileges” bet?
I think he is here, there are two or three posters that post way too similar.

We are still signing Top 3 classes every year so it isn't working very well if that's the case.

If anyone is recruiting against us, it is the other schools that are willing to open up the checkbook when we are not.

Be realistic, I Briscoe was not a happy camper. C Matthews ???
The guard who thought he would be in charge but went west coast. (Green??) Maybe Richards now.
I believe every coach has or has had malcontents, but most are savvy enough to stay quiet.

OP is probably onto a little something. In his/her own special way anyway. I know of at least one former player who has thrown some garbage out to recruits (specifically about how Cal said he would use him, versus how Cal actually used him). I don’t think that player was actively recruiting against us, but it didn’t help. There are definitely others. How could there not be. Some that come to mind who may not have the best stories to tell:
- Poole
- briscoe
- green
- Matthews
- Gabriel
- lyles
- Skal

Some others. So, while I believe the OP is mentally challenged (not disabled, mind you), he/she is probably correct in some ways.

I kinda get where the OP is coming from. 0-9 on 2019 bigs (absolutely mind boggling), and as I’ve recently posted, Sestina and EJ are 100% gone, and Nick R. Is probably 80% gone as well. UK has room for 4 bigs in 2020. NOTHING standing in the way of Todd, Makur, Brown etc. I’m hoping for 2 big time commitments soon.

I think more likely the system is easier to recruit against. We’re geared to penetration, inside out and perimeter passing. Getting the ball inside isn’t a strength early in the season.

I think folks are forgetting we have put some of the top centers into the league in the last 10 years. Also they are overlooking that many bigs seem to be failing elsewhere.

I doubt this has a damn thing to do with sour grapes from prior bigs. It’s just a cycle. In 5 years, we may be bitching about guards to go with the top bigs in the class.

Who Macy? It’s not been any of Cal’s players that have said anything that I have heard.

I’m not buying what your selling:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
I used to stick up for umm and liked everyone of his posts just because I knew the reaction he would get. I miss that man and his sports knowledge. He used to love telling everyone how he coached and what cal was doing wrong and would catch hell for it. I also would of loved to of heard him on ksr where he makes radio magic.!

Let me be more clear - claiming to be disabled WHEN NOT = Karma Problems.

Half of my fathers family claim to be disabled, when really they are just lazy *** drug addicts looking for handouts. And trust me - karma has kicked their asses for it.

yeah, lot of artists on one side of my family in EKY....all drawing checks...sorry lazy PsOS
