I hope he and all the others on this board (strat, fishwater, etc.) who swore there would be no football in 2020 are okay. All this football going on right now must be killing them.

Hopefully the rona doesn’t devour all the players, coaches, and fans. I guess we’ll just have to check in another two weeks.

Also, still waiting on that impending surge in Sweden once everyone gets back from their summer homes.

Don't know about Sweden, but Israel just locked down for the second time. If everybody would just mask up life could be near normal. It's certainly helped here. Another local factor is that a LOT of people aren't yet back in their offices.

Didn’t somebody leave the board because he thought he lost a bet with another poster about football being played? He come back yet?

Think it might have been campshelbydawg.

On the flip side, the poster that really lost leave town?

I am so glad I was wrong.
Loving football being back.
The virus seems to have mutated and is not nearLydia as serious as it was. Modtypeople do not have to go to the hospital at all.
Makes you wonder if it really was a conspiracy involved.

Yeah, I'm sure Israel got lax on their policies**

Being too stringent is just as detrimental as being not stringent enough.

LOL, yeah just messing with y’all. We’re all glad to have football back- it’s been one long offseason. Just had to throw one little jab in there.

Y'all are tempting some dead Injuns

Come on people, you act like you don't know what Emstate is. Don't get too confident or the spirits are going to breathe some Covid into the 2 deep.

Agree. Wearing a mask is a lot different than shutting down the economy though. And I think masks have a greater overall effect, and certainly a pretty simple way to have a positive effect.

Some people take it to extreme though - saw a gal jogging around the neighborhood this afternoon, no one else around, and she was wearing a mask. I have no idea why, except maybe she wanted to show people how "aware" she was being.

No worries here, keep us all accountable.
I just hope we can get a complete season in. I still doubt that we will have over 25% of the stadium full this year.

It was a lot better than the upcoming weekend, based on the schedule I saw today. The best game looks like Georgia Tech and (#1) Central Florida. After that, it gets good.

Lol. I'm probably enjoying it more than you are! Hopefully I finally get to do a HS game this week.

As for Sweden I've been saying wait till the end of September for a long time now. Hopefully you are correct there too.

Remind me again when we started mandating masks?

Wearing a mask has no effect at all unless you are trying to kiss someone.

Seriously, why would you do this?

Hopefully I finally get to do a HS game this week.

You clearly believe the virus is deadly. You personally know more than 10 people who have died from it. You have repeatedly said we need to take this virus seriously and take every precaution we can. But now you want to go to a high school game. High school sports are not essential. Going out in public increases your chances of catching the virus as well as spreading it to others. Even if you wear a mask and socially distance in the stands, you are increasing the chance of spread compared to staying in your home. Why are you now OK with this?

You need to read a little on what they actually have done there. Not mandated, but done.

Seriously? I bet I have read as much about Sweden as you have and watched just about every interview with Tegnell I can find in English.

The ironic part is your narrative has changed. You said they had done an “awful job” among other things when posters were pointing out they had not gone full lockdown. Now you are trying to come up with a way to justify their (at least until it changes on Sept 30) success.

Like I have posted with the charts and data, they are in a similar stage of restrictions (not wide open) to quite a few of the southern states, sans mask mandates and little mask wear.

I won't be in the stands but y'all haven't been right about what I'm saying for a long time now. Y'all have consistently tried to fit your all or nothing mindset to what I'm saying. It doesn't fit and hasn't since about the end of May or so. I've been laughing at the simple among you the whole time.

He can do what he wishes. It's YOU that must be restricted, in order for his business to do well.

I'm talking about actual individual behavior, not charts or mandates. Their government DID do a horrible job at first, that's why their death toll was so bad. They did almost as bad as NYC with their nursing homes. I posted an article here the other day that was a pretty honest interview with their guy in charge of this stuff. Toward the end of the article he said that despite the no mandates that Swedes had slowed down and actually done more than a lot of people who were under mandates have. I took that to be aimed squarely at us, and I expect he is right. You keep assuming that Swedes behave like Americans. They don't. They follow rules and even guidelines a lot better than we do. It hasn't been anything goes there, mandates or no mandates.

Just for fun here is where I actually stand right now: As things stand in Mississippi at the moment I think we are doing it about right. The mask mandate has REALLY helped, just as predicted. Masks work. I think that gatherings should still be limited, esp indoors. It only takes one big gathering with the wrong combination of circumstances to lead to a really big outbreak. Things like workplaces, schools, sports teams should be taken on a case by case basis, which is what we are doing. It's why I haven't been able to do a football game yet. Back early when we didn't know much other than what the Chinese were telling us blanket closures made sense, at least till we had a better experience with what we were dealing with. Now that we have a better handle on it we can branch out more. We still have to keep a close eye on things and move quickly if things start heading south. That REALLY applies locally. What I would like to see as soon as possible is widespread application of quick result testing in many situations. That is the only thing that will really allow us to loosen up short of a vaccine. Hopefully I made that simple enough for a few of you. Most will understand even if they don't agree.

So you just now figured that out? See, earlier you were saying the drop was only because they were on vacay, kids weren’t in school and “just wait till those are over.” Now that your prediction has not come to fruition (yet) you have pivoted once again. Your “awful job” comment was not initially directed toward the nursing home issue as all the Sweden watchers had admitted (as Sweden did) that they did a poor job there. It was to their strategy which many were clamoring for.

Since the Swede’s aren’t secretly going to bars, the beach, social gatherings (go check out the articles from just a month or 2 ago) and are wearing invisible masks, does this mean you are backing off your “wait till the end of Sept” prediction?

It sounds similar to the line of reasoning as to why mandates didn’t have an impact in LA (among a million other places) compared to the places Georgia without.. “those California’s just aren’t following the rules like we do down here in the south.”

Another example, two peas in a pod.
I have a former friend who acts just like you. Tells me and everyone else why we should embrace the pandemic, and indulge in a bunch of destructive behavior while doing so. He has profited greatly from it all and absolutely does not practice what he preaches in his own life.

Ugh, that is individual behavior. The way a lot of them do vacation is natural social distancing. They also stayed home a lot more than you give them credit for. Neither of us has been proven right or wrong yet. Heck we can BOTH still be wrong. Their awful initial job is what led to their nursing home problem. In case you missed it, we had the EXACT same problem in Mississippi. If it's widespread in your population it will get into the nursing homes, PERIOD. That's why you and I share blame for what happened in ours. I am not backing off the September thing. You need a month minimum to evaluate changed circumstances when it comes to this virus. Remember Memorial Day, the 4th, and the mask mandate here? At the end of September if they aren't starting to see any increase in their cases then what they are doing now is working, for now.

I will be the first to say I am not the most informed but I thought there would be football after it was determined it mostly affected the elderly and compromised. Why not? Really? The Big Ten is just gone so Woke that they can't make solid decisions. I consider myself moderate but Conservatives think I am Antifa and Liberals think I am a right wing nut.

I am still not certain when we get fans back in the stands. i would go myself, i think i have had the stuff, so why not?

At least we have something in common

I've been laughing at the simple among you the whole time.

I’m right there with you.

You can dodge, dive, dip, duck, and dodge a question with the best of them. Do you believe participating in non-essential activities increases the chances of spreading Covid? Do you believe high school football is essential? Do believe going to watch high school football games is essential?
