I agree. The guy wouldn’t know talent if it hit him in the mouth.
The biggest problem with getting people to let go to Brooks’s statements is he nor Cal ever gave us any closure on that situation. If Brooks had come out and said, “I made that initial statement without any facts or knowledge and I apologize.“ all would be forgiven.
I don’t care anymore, and haven’t for quite some time, because as of now the Rupp name is staying. But when someone says something that insults you or something/someone you care about you usually don’t go back to being on good terms until the wrongful party makes amends. This is a more southern tradition, I think people up north are so used to being dicks to each other that they dont know how to make amends and that may be where the divide is as well.

"Closure". You want a young basketball player to give you closure. I didn't know you were so sensitive that you feel you need closure on something dumb a young man said several months ago. Look, if Brooks puts out a statement like you want, you guys will still crush him by coming here and saying that he never should have said that in the first place and he should have known better and the attacks against him here were justified. It gives some of you comfort to go after these players on this forum because you're allowed to.
As far as your second paragraph about the north being dicks and the south being some majestic paradise or whatever, several posts in a thread about Brooks had to be deleted because it went off the rails with most crushing him because the OP happened to mention that Brooks cares about social issues. The gentlemanly southerners in that thread couldn't handle it and attacked the dude on a public forum.
I don't agree with Matt Jones on some things, but one thing he nails is that on this site, there really are some bitter, angry fans, and some of you will not let anything go.

Rupp was the greatest BB coach to ever coach at UK to this point. Anyone that wants to dispute that needs to study UK's BB history.

As far as UK fans go, there weren't sides on the Rupp issue. Literally no one who grew up a UK fan wanted his name removed and there was no danger of that happening. To say that your side won is silly at best. It's not a competition where you won and I lost. Again, we all know why some were upset and I never claimed that you attacked Brooks. I clearly said "some here" repeatedly. I enjoy your passive aggressive tone though. You're trying to make me into the bad guy while the ones who continue to like your posts were/are the ones that refuse to let the issue go. I continue to think your post about people wanting closure is goofy, as if this was some major event that shook us to our core. Guy made a dumb comment. That's what happened, and at this point for some, it doesn't matter what he says next. Just knowing that Brooks is into social issues continues to trigger most on this site. It's whatever though. I'm looking forward to next season and full crowds. If others want to continue down the path of "farrr Cal" and "shut up and dribble, Brooks!" if he comes back, have at it.

I don’t think rupp was racist, but I do think it’s time for a rename of the arena. UK could make a lot of money if the arena is named after a company.

This pandemic needs to end and people need to go outside and get on with their lives, it’s ridiculous. Went to DC about 3 years ago. Had a great time. My first time ever going. Saw no riots. No fights. No people yelling at each other. Saw people on both sides of the political spectrum that had their stuff on. MAGA hats, anti Trump stuff.
But people got along.
RR- even on a hoops message board you can sometimes see hate brewing/growing. The kid made a decision/choice that some see as unfortunately unforgivable. Yet, others like myself, saying throwing a kid away for simply trying to make a statement, uneducated or not, is unforgivable.

I’m starting to think some posters and fans have no idea who he was or what he has meant to UK overall. He MADE Uk basketball. No ifs, ands or buts about it.
