I'm in early process of divesting 60 year's of collecting
Just putting the low value nits and lice on eBay at this time
Haven't the phoggiest idea how to do this other than eBay, think that maxes my value
Any good idea how to get good value with minimum effort?

I don't know $h&t, but if it's a big enough or worth enough of a collection. You might have it professionally appraised and could advertise online or maybe a coin magazine, auction possibly.

Someone might buy the whole thing or a big part of it, might simplify things for you Instead of doing it piece by piece.

Good luck

I found a box of volkswanderung medals in a cabin that I was remodeling. They are all from the early 70s and I have the same question. How do I sell them efficiently and at a decent price? I probably have 120 or more and they are worth between $5 and $50 a piece if you can find a buyer.

Surely there are some coin sites that have "For Sale" areas. I am on several gun sites and each has a category for stuff for sale, you pretty much name it. You just have to know what your asking price is and then ship them. I know a couple of people that are into coins and use some web sites to find things.

Ebay is a decent place for collectibles. Reach the widest audience, but not as tailored of an audience and you have to worry about fees. I usually tend to post my stuff on special interest forums (baseball/softball equipment and firearms and accessories have been my main ones). You can usually get some decent interest if what you have is desirable and you don't have to pay fees. It's a big help if you have a PayPal account, makes the whole process a little easier and more secure.

The other thing, like someone mentioned, if it is a significant and valuable enough collection, getting an expert appraisal wouldn't be a bad idea. I have a collection of marbles I inherited not long ago. Don't know if they're worth anything but probably going to take them somewhere and find out eventually.

Mint sets are selling for way, way less than what we paid for them. If it ain't silver, it's hard to sell.

My grandpa had a $20 gold piece, I think he forgot to turn it in when president Roosevelt ordered all gold turned into the government. He showed me it to me once when I was a little kid, it was cool but small, you sure better be careful handling it could lose it pretty easily

When I got snipped I was awake and I told the doc my balls itched and asked if he'd scratch em while he was down there, serious. He wasn't amused either. I imagine they've heard 'em all.

Don’t get me started my mother who is 90 had 22 Silver dollars around 1894- 1924 that her Grandfather gave to her, So......My father took them to the bank when I was on vacation and they gave him back $22 not knowing much the value could be today..

Sad story but they thought afterwards that the bank would give them the value for how much they were.

I had a comic book collection with about 6,000 issues. Maybe it was worth something, but the problem is that no one wants to buy a big collection. Comic book stores would offer about $500 for it, hoping I was just another naive widow with her late husband's newsprint, unaware it might be worth something. The only real way to get money back is to sell individual items on eBay. But the time/effort to sell so many items, including shipping, is almost a ful-time job. And to get any real money, they have to be accurately graded, which costs up to $40 a book for a professional like CGC.

In the end I donated 80% of the collection for a modest tax write-off, and kept about 800 that I really cared about.

In summary, if you are collecting any items for any reason other than your enjoyment, you're a fool. Most collectibles aren't valuable.
