It's not sanctimonious at all. Those videos and comments were directed at UK fans for the expressed purpose of getting them excited about PJ playing. If they were not sure he would play, then don't put that stuff out there. Now, I am not going to make a huge deal out of it, and I don't think anyone should, but fans do have a right to be pissed about.

There’s a good chance our season can end tonight without PJ. It will end on Sunday if he doesn’t play.

My enjoyment from watching UK win is much more important than PJ's long term health and NBA career. :)

***Footnote: Sarcasm
Even though this is said sarcasm, I think it is still a pathetic response if you you don't reply to a post that said such. Otherwise you're implying that is the reasoning for someone being upset if he doesn't play without any foundation for that implication. If PJ can't legitimately play such as due to pain and/or swelling after giving it a go in practice that is understandable, but IF(not saying true) Cal or PJ either one knew he wasn't going to play regardless and posted what they did yesterday, then shame on them. It also can't be said that the excuse is to throw off Houston because they are already expecting him to play, so it would be nothing but a troll job on the fans.

I'm to the point if he doesn't play so what , go into battle with who we have. We're gonna be okay.
Agree we've got the horses to do it. I just hate the thought of, if PJ can't get back for another week and we slip up and lose this weekend he will have had one deflated experience in the tourney. The seas open up last year for us to get to the final 4 and PJ plays great but can't hit a free throw to help us advance and this we're primed againg to make a big run and he misses out. Would be a cold bucket of water way to go out.

I don't understand why fans think they have a "right" to be pissed over a game played by teenagers? You aren't owed anything and you aren't entitled to anything. I think PJ plays, but if by chance he doesn't I won't be pissed. If he is able to play and contribute he will. If he isn't then he won't. It's really not that hard. All the propaganda, media tweets, PJ and cal tweets etc doesn't change anything and certainly doesn't give you the "right" to be pissed.
Dude what gives you the right to tell us how we feel,we are fans we care about our team more than anyone

Only PJ knows how his foot feels. He pretty clearly went into yesterday planning to give it a go.

How did he hold up in practice? How well can he cut and jump? How bad is his pain today? Has his ability to perform increased or decreased since yesterday?

I get the negative PR aspect if he doesn’t play after tweeting out the positive video. But no matter how he felt walking around, no one could know how things would go once he tested it out.

If we lose tonight, it isn’t going to be because PJ tweeted a video and fans got excited. Now, we actually could lose if he’s still only 50% and tries to go anyway. I still have Keith Bogans nightmares.

Seth is probably making an educated guess. PJ not playing or limited minutes is a pretty solid set of choices to guess. I seriously doubt Seth knows anything except gossip we all have heard.

Houston is legit. If PJ doesn’t play and UK beats Houston then it will give me confidence that the Cats can also beat UNC without him. But I think beating Houston will be a tall task.

If he can't play it almost doesn't matter if we win, our reward is UNC and we aren't beating them without PJ at at least 80%. And he's not going to magically heal in less than 48 hours.

How fortuitous for the cheaters.

I tend to agree but you trying to simplify it by saying “it’s just a game played by teenagers” is a bit ridiculous considering you have thousands of posts and hours spent on a discussion board about said “game being played by teenagers”

Yeah, I’m usually considered a “pumper” but I would have to agree. Maybe not “pissed” but peeved for sure.

Who knows? Maybe PJ and Cal thought he’d play: be fine and got to excited and preemptively posted that video then once he got to practice realized he wasn’t quite so ready to go?

Yesterday was the first time he tested the foot. If he was in a lot of pain after practice, he may not be ready to go yet. All we've been told is that he's day to day.

I think he plays tonight. The question is how much can he play and how effective will he be?

The other question is, how will he feel for Sunday if we're able to win tonight?

I’m at the point where I just don’t care anymore.

We can beat Houston, Auburn and yes, even UNC, with or without PJ.

In the words of the immortal sea monster Al Davis: “Just win, baby.”

I didn't know UNC had won yet.

I'm still praying they all die of bird flu before 6pm CST.

I was in Columbus and watched that debacle. If not for a couple of bad calls at the end, we still would have beaten Marquette. I think we may be able to win tonight without him, but we cannot win on Sunday without him.

I hate fans like you. If it is just a game played by teenagers to you, don't you feel a bit strange being on a message board in order to follow news about a group of teenagers?

My guess is he is getting that from Kyle Tucker since both at the Atlantic. Kyle's article last night was "fly on the wall". I know UK/Cal is not stupid enough to do all the publicity they have done with PJ and he not play, but I just keep getting more nervous and nervous.
I trust Kyle’s reporting more than Cal’s coach speak. Kyle has as good of inside info than anybody.

i know you and I have sparred at times, and that my cynical nature annoys you. But I do appreciate your view. I’m curious why you think Cal expected him to play when addressing the media the day before AC? It seems I was wrong with my original theory, but I’m wondering if the sprain maybe is a bit more serious than I thought. Not that Cal ever said it’s minor or no big deal, but it is still weird to me that Cal seemed genuine when expecting him to play last week.

Most athletes play with pain, wrap & go. Only concern I see is further damage to whatever injury it is.
Cal has said himself multiple times that the doctors have told them there is no risk at all of him damaging his foot any further. He said if that were the case there is no way he would even consider him playing. The only issue here is PJ's pain tolerance; at least according to everything I have read.

All of the positive stuff about PJ was before he ever practiced. I believe they thought he was fine because he was walking with no pain. But when he practiced, his foot didn't feel as good as he thought. Now we some back peddling.

Oh I’m a fan and I’m passionate. That’s why I post hear and have spent the time doing it. My point being that being mad over tweets and the handling of the situation is uncalled for. Be glad we have instant access to reports and news instead of being pissed about it. Everyone feels they are owed something and the sense of entitlement is mind blowing. That being said go Cats!

Yes we have sparred at times, and that’s okay! I will eat crow and admit when I’m wrong.
Personally I’m just of the mindset that both Cal and PJ got overly excited/ confident and wanted to give BBN some good news

Seth Davis is full of it. He was on after the games last night saying PJ didn't look very good in practice and would be limited, then went on to say that UK wasn't going to do well with PJ "out of the lineup". He doesn't know ish. He's so low he's hoping PJ doesn't play and that we're eliminated this weekend because with PJ at full strength next weekend, we could be a real threat to his Dookies.

I don't think anyone wants a long term injury for PJ. Whittier said it best for great teams not at full strength. "For all sad words of tongue and pen, the saddest are these, 'what might have been'."

Maybe Whittier wasn't exactly talking about sports but it applies as it did with Anderson in 97, etc.
