Another top talent leaves Mississippi

WJTV’s Hailey Hunter is leaving to be the Team reporter for the NY Islanders. We have to figure out how to keep talent like that in Mississippi.

Not sure that was ever a possibility with her.

“Hailey Hunter joined the WJTV sports team in February of 2020. She is originally from Muskegon, Michigan and comes from a big hockey family. She essentially grew up at the hockey rink where her dad coached, and twin brother played competitively. In fact, she learned to skate before she could walk.” -WJTV website

I was planning on leaving for residency anyway but my hand was forced when my program at UMMC went on probation. For me it’s tough to return at this point. If we have a safe, well run city of 200k+ with good public schools and amenities, I’d consider it, but we don’t. And I’m well aware of the suburbs of Jackson, but I’m talking about the city itself

If you are wanting a decent population, good public schools and being close to amenities, have you thought about the coast? A lot of good stuff going on there. After you finish residency of course.

Two words…. Desoto County.

Everything in Memphis is there when you need/want it along with Germantown and Collierville.

I’m done with residency now and pretty settled for the next few years. My work requires me to be picky with where I go as well, have to be picky about the hospital system and make sure it’s a good fit and whatnot. I’m happy where I’m at but would be nice to be closer to family and college sports

Also there’s two hospitals in the county as well so you could work here as well without Memphis.
